thick sinus drainage

I am just getting over a bad head cold.  I didnt go to the dr.  Now I have a thick drainage in my throat and I just woke up at 3am coughing and practically choked.  The drainage seems to always be there but much worse at night.  Is Mucinex expectorant good for sinus drainage.  My mouth is so dry.

I had something very similar and the doctor prescribed me Mucinex DM. It was specifically for the hacking cough I had (day/night), which stemmed from drainage. It worked for me.

if your mouth is dry try increasing your fluid intake and take some lozenges if your throat is sore.

sometimes after a cold i do the same thing.its gross but the thick mucus is like a sign the worst is over.it goes on for a couple of days then stops.but i  was just diagnosed with sinusitis.i had a bad headache needed antibiotics.
