Where did I insult? I think I even apologized if it came across that way. I was stating an opinion. Perhaps it was one that you did not agree with, but it certainly was not intended to be insulting. I am not going to say anymore on that particular issue as again, I am not interested in arguing. I will say one more time....if my comments came across as attacking or insulting I truly apologize. Not at all my intention.
you could have fooled me. All I see from you is insults.
Did you actually read my comments, or are you just looking for an argument. Honestly, I am not interested in fighting. Sorry.
Your comments on how the Haitians see us Westerners are sure dead on!! I had the opportunity to travel to Haiti and the Dominican Republic a few years ago. Actually, I have been to several 3rd world countries and the differences between their take on poverty and ours is mind boggling! When I visit these countries I really like to meet "real people", so we will often travel outside of the recommended tourist areas. These people are unbeliavably poor. For them it is often a struggle just for day to day survival. Can you imagine not having access to clean water? Something most of us I think take for granted. But you know, whenever I return I am left with the thought that they know something about life we don't...they really have their priorities straight. The children are almost always clean and well cared for. They look out for each other. And even as a tourist, they may not have much, but they will happily share it with you. I have been fortunate enough to be invited into some of their homes and really talk to them. A hard working, beautiful people. Don't misunderstand me, I am grateful to be a Westerner and have all the privilages that come with that.....but I truly believe these people could teach us a thing or two. And talk about an unstable political climate...the political corruption in Haiti is again beyond anything any of us Westerners can imagine. But the people are wonderful and for the most part deeply spiritual and warm. You hear a lot of comments about the high crime rate and that is true, but intense poverty and starvation drives people to desperate measures. It's not to difficult to understand how it happens.
It warms my heart that so many are coming together to offer support and aid. I was watching it on the news again this morning and although it's hard to get supplies and help through, it is slowly happening. What's frightening is the projected death toll. It's not just the initial impact of the earthquake itself, but all that will now follow. Disease will hit, many of the wounded will die due to lack of medical attention....some organizations and agencies are predicting the final death toll could be towards half a million people. Hard to even wrap our heads around that I think.
Since you are so dissappointed here, why not start up an international forum. One that will you WOULD like.
"They talk like their opinions are fact, rarely backing their opinion up with real facts and never adding intelligent ideas on solutions."
Sounds like you are referring more to yourself here.
