Pat Robertson & Rush Limbaugh & Haiti

What is wrong with these 2 idiots?  Pat Robertson saying the Haitians made a pact with the devil years ago and this is why they're being punished and then Rush Limbaugh telling people NOT to send money, that we already send Haiti money threw our taxes. Granted, some of our tax money may go to Haiti, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't help with this disaster! These 2 A-Holes need to be gone. How can anyone be so heartless, cold and so, soooo stupid? They certainly give good Christians a bad name.

Please don't leave this forum. It would really be great to have your thoughts on current issues, without always playing "the Obama blame game".
And you're absolutly right about other countries coming to our aid. The Canadian Monties were the first aid to Katrina victims, even before US aid. Along with many others instances.
Your observations of a lot of the posts is dead-on correct. Hang in here, and post what ever you want.

You hit the nail on the head. There are a few here that all they can do is blame Obama for any and everything. If it's a cloudy day, they some how find a way to blame Obama. They talk like their opinions are fact, rarely backing their opinion up with real facts and never adding intelligent ideas on solutions.  Some of these people can't seem to drum up enough intelligence to say anything much more than..Obama.., This administration.., socialism.., I'm American.., I'm a patriot..,Obama caused the national debt..., tea bags..2010...,....you get the drift.
It is very difficult for some of us to have intelligent discussions or debates when these people can't. It's like trying to have adult conversations with spoiled little children having temper tantrums. Not a lot of thought behind their words.
One of them even said, "she won't read any of the longer posts, even from the more intelligent people", I guess she's lacking in attention span.
I don't think there's anyone here that is completely satisfied with President Obama. There are certainly things I would like to see him do differently. But I also understand that there's never been or will be, a President that can make everyone happy and there are no easy answers to a lot of the current issues. Not one of us here can claim a full knowledge and understanding of the complicated process dealing with all these issues. This country is no longer and never will be again, just dealing with "Ma & Pa down on the farm". The American dollar, the economy, big business, almost everything, has a direct impact and involvement with the rest of the world. Even the most educated experts on finances and the economy admitted not being certain to the long term outcome if we didn't bail out the banks. One thing "I" can be certain of is, things are a little more complicated than "a few tea bags".
As far as the Haiti disaster and where the money is coming from, there is no time to form commissions and have long drawn out meetings while these people are dying. It's just one of those crises where the U.S. has to act now and figure it out later. It would be really petty to not help just because they didn't send a sympathy card after 9-11. The poor people of the world, not just the Haitians, don't understand our economy or the budget etc. What they see and hear about are all the wealthy Americans, with big homes, big cars, boats, big corporate bonuses, nice clothes, eating a fancy restaurants and they think "What do you mean you're poor and can't help?". Maybe they think "granny" maybe could eat less cake (metaphor) so she can afford her other pill, at least she's not stuck under a ton of concrete without food, water or even a band-aid. What I'm saying is, To the poor people of the world, we don't look so poor, and compared to a lot of poor in the world...we're NOT so poor.
I'd really like to see some of you try to answer the questions, Allaboutmary posted above. With May's permission, I may copy and paste it to a new thread. Although, I doubt some of you will answer it without just blaming Obama for stuff. How about some intelligent, thoughtful answers? That may be asking to much. lol

Thanks for the good wishes on our soon to be son.  It's our first and we are very excited!!  This is a very long awaited child and we are so incredibly blessed.

And thank you for understanding what I was trying to say.  I truly did not intend to attack anyone, and I completely understand that the US is in a bit of political turmoil right now.  What is happening there is worldwide news.  Being that you are our closest neighbors, what happens there has a real impact here too.  I love watching CNN and FOX both as I try to get a well rounded perspective.  I personally am fairly liberal, but respect conservative opinions even when I don't agree.

I guess I was just hoping this group would become more International then it has.  We live in such an interesting and rapidly changing world and are far more connected then I think any of us even realize.  And I know many conversations will turn to US politics...that is to be expected.  I just think that we could all learn so much from each other and I guess I am a bit disappointed that somehow every topic turns to a debate about Obama.  There is just so much more to many of these topics.  And honestly, it sort of seems like it quickly goes from debate to fighting and nastiness.  Perhaps I am misreading, but that is how I see it.

I am new to the current events forum so do not know its history.  I think you do see a lot of debate on our current political situation from the US members here . . . as it is such a contentious time as you said.  I think also, if you are an American visiting another country----  you might be told that Americans are a little self centered.  It does become appearant that this may be true when outside of the US . . . take that for what it is worth.  But our climate here is one of frustration like I have never experienced in my adult life and it seems to seep into everything.  As political events happen worldwide, they become the new political agenda for this country.  Some agree with that, some don't.  I would think that you should continue to post . . . and discuss what YOU feel is relavent as I'm sure many would like to hear your opinions and thoughts------  and those who are so inclined will follow suit.

Saw you are about to have a baby----  good luck and ENJOY!!  Babies are such blessings.

Sorry, one last thing....I fully recognize that the US does help other countries...there is no question.  I am a US supporter, not hater.  I read a comment somewhere that other countries don't help the US.  I was simply pointing out that is not true.  Perhaps it's not to the extent that the US helps others, but help does come when needed.  And also that the relief efforts in Haiti and other countries are International efforts.  Again, not intended to put anyone on the defensive.

Is your last post referring to my comments?  Who is the friend I am here at the behest of?  Sorry, you lost me there.  And I don't think I was yelling, simply putting in my feelings on all of this...this is an open group, is it not?

As for the comment about not sending aid, I was referring to the original post which quoted Rush L and Pat Robertson.  I apologize if somehow that was taken as you saying not to send aid.  I didn't intend it to come across that way at all.

As for my comments about turning things around to make them political, as far as I can tell, just about every thread here somehow turns into an Obama debate.  Now, I completely understand that the US is in tough times...the whole world is really.  And I understand that there are strong feelings about your President from both political groups.  There is a lot of change happening in your country right  now, and it is certainly not for me to say whether it is good or bad.  I have my opinions on the issues, but I don't live there and so I respect that I probably don't have a complete understanding of the whole picture.  I get my information from the media and from my American friends who of course also have their opinons.  And by the way, I have friends on both sides of the issues.  I love talking to them because I find all the change in the US interesting.    What I am trying to say is that you have some interesting topics come up here that do impact the entire world, and I would love to participate. However, I know I personally have no interest in getting into a debate about Obama's policies and perhaps it would be nice to discuss some of these issues from a worldwide perspective.  Read the threads posted....pretty much everything turns into a conversation about Obama.....it's frustrating.

I will certainly keep my comments to myself from here on in. Clearly anyone living outside the US, and who does not have an opinion on US politics is not welcome here.  I find that unfortunate, but it is what it is.  I apologize if I offended.
