my boyfriend had a mole in his scalp.  he states that it was swollen and it hurts.  I saw it yesterday and he states that it was huge before and he puts some cream on it so the swelling subsides.  I touch the surrounding of the mole. he states it hurts and it appears to be pinkish.. what shall we do?? do you think its cancersous??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Your boyfriend should get the mole evaluated from a dermatologist to check whether it is a mole as it can be an infected cyst also. As a thumb rule if you notice changes in the mole's color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have it checked if it bleeds, oozes, itches, appears scaly, or become tender or painful.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Without a photo very difficult to comment, yet may be an infected sebaceous or pilar cyst.Do consult your doc.
