Glycolic acid peel?

Okay, before I did this 30% glycolic acid peel I did a little research on it. Now, when I was researching people said, that there should be a little bit of redness, drying, scabbing, and peeling of the skin. The symptoms that is. So when I first applied it , it didn't really bother my skin as bad as I thought it was.
There was little bit of a tingling not really harsh or lenient. I give it about a 4 out of 10 on a level of, I guess burning or a stinging sensation. I left if it on for about maybe 6 mins. Intensionally I was going to leave it on for about three minutes. But like I said, I felt little tingle nothing to bothersome.
So I decided it to leave it on a little longer. Which could be a dumb idea. But whatever. I didn't notice or feel anything until the next day. My skin was red, scabby, and dry around the lip area.
I thought these symptoms were suppose to happen. It's been nearly 3 to 4 days already. I started Tuesday morning on September 13th. So far the scabbing and stuff is starting to go away. Flaking away and such. There's still some sign's but they're getting better.
Okay, I started this because I have some discoloration or sun damage. I have a yellowish asian skin type. I guess that's the best way to describe it. Um I don't know if it actually even my skin tone or not. But it looks like I gain some minor burn scar? I'm just wondering If all of these symptoms are suppose to happen? Thanxxx

Hello,
The brown spots that you have are due to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation after scabbing. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment but they should be used only under a dermatologist’s guidance. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I meant I had minor dark spots on my forehead. But now I have spots around my lip area... So how long does it take for it to fade away? It was red when using the facial peel. But now it turned brown. I thought scabbing and such were the symptoms of using glycolic acid?

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be irritant contact dermatitis. Irritant dermatitis, the most common type of contact dermatitis, involves inflammation resulting from contact with acids, alkaline materials such as soaps and detergents, cosmetics, or other chemicals.

Avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat your face dry. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid.

If the irritation persists then please get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
