Whole body itching with no visible signs with no relief from Benadry
Hello all! Hoping to find something to help. I am a 29 year old female. Height 5'2" and Weight 118 lbs.
For the past month and a half I have been experiencing major itching all over my body. At first it was just my hands and feet. I went to the doc and was prescribed Prednisone to take in a tapering dose (day 1=60mg, day 2 =50mg, etc). It worked and my itching was relieved. A few days after the last dose the itching came back again with a vengeance and additional itching on my legs. The doctor again prescribed prednisone to taper but in smaller doses(day 1=40mg, etc). Again, I had relief while on the medicine. Days after stopping prednisone the itch came back again and was even worse. Since then my entire body is now itching (arms, legs, feet, hands, stomach, neck, back).
There are no visible rashes, no blisters, no white lines. Ive washed and rewashed everything. I handmake my own laundry detergent and have done so and used this for 5 years. I have no new shampoos, body washes, lotions, sprays. Nothing in my diet has changed. I had bariatric surgery 1.5 years ago so I am very specific in what I eat. I have cats which I have had for 8 years with no reaction.
There are no scabies, no bedbugs. This is not atopic dermatitis, not dishydrotic eczema, not any form of skin disease. The itching does wake me up at night frequently. Scratch test was normal. Blood work was normal (even my anemia was normal). The only places I do NOT itch is my head and private parts (thank God). This is not any kind of STI or STD as that all came back normal.
I really think its something internal but no clue where to go from here. Prednisone is bad to take long term but if I have to, then so be it.
Benadryl does NOT work at all. I even tried to take very large doses (6 of the 25mg pills). It doesnt even make me drowsy. Putting on fragrance free and hypoallergenic lotions do nothing either.
This constant itching has got to go!!!

I had a pretty bad itch all over my body as well.. buttucks area and private area too.. i have chrohns disease.. idk if there is really a cure for it?
