Did anyone get an answer to this problem.. I've had a similar problem for about 5 months now with cracking on either side of my mouth (Angular Chelitus) and the problem has died down.. But i'm getting a slight tingling on my upper lips.. No sores appear.. Just a red ring that runs very directly around the border of my lips.. Nobody notices it unless i show them.. My doctor gave me an ointment called Daktacort that has helped with the cracking on the corners that i mentioned earlier.. ALSO my throat has been irritated on one side but i can't pin point the exact location.. Doctors have seen nothing wrong at the back of my throat... Then i started getting bleeding gums AND small tonsil stones but I've upped my oral hygiene even more and it seems to be on top of it for the moment but still get the odd tonsil stone.. never had any oral issues until performing oral sex on my ex partner and my local clinic can't see anything sinister regarding STD'S etc.. I'm at a loss... HELP.
I also took accutane in my late teens. I have the exact same problem. My lips get really red, and inflamed after a meal, it's kind of embarrassing. Its worse if the food is salty, or spicy, but just about anything seems to cause it to some degree. My lips are also some what large, so that could be a factor involved. I've been thinking about taking some kind of anti-inflammatory like Advil to see if that helps.
I have the exact same problem and im sorry that i cannot help with a diagnosis but if anyone can think of one then tell me (i mean i have eczema so that could be why. never had it on my lips though) HOWEVER i have been doing a little research and I think that honey and lemon has been working REALLY well for me.
I apply lemon Juice above my lips (well where ever its cracked, it really burns sometimes but heey means its working) - This helps skin to stay healthy and also reduces redness
Then apply honey like well i dont know vaseline a thin layer over the dryness and chapped skin OVER where you placed the lemon Juice (Only a LITTLE bit of lemon juice) - honey soothes and moistens skin NATURAL
Leave over night. Wash off GENTLY in the morning and it should get better (I did this and the first day the redness GONE but later in the day it became a bit dry BUT NO REDNESS :) - I hope this works if you still look at this... forum?
I have a red line under my lips and my doctor said it's caused by lip licking habbit, so i tried to stop and she gave me a cream that reduce the red thing and it works, ut not completely gone yet... at school my friend told me it's herpes so i didnt use the cream for some reason and it came back. the cream is like a moisturiser. its 5 bucks
Hi,
Since when are you having the symptoms? What is your age?
Phenytoin is also known to cause some skin related side effects. Some other causes could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection.
You need to drink plenty of water daily – around 1.5 – 3 litres per day. Do not keep your lips dry; apply lip balm which contains sunscreen – preferably a medicated one.
If you have cracks at the corner of your mouth it indicates vitamin B deficiency in this case you need to take B2 supplements.
If the symptoms still persist, consult your skin specialist or dermatologist.
Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.
Regards.
