Help, has anyone....

Has any had endoscopic sinus surgery before? Is it worth it for a chronic sinus infection? If any of you has had this procedure I would greatly appreciate the pros and cons of the experience. thanks

oh wow my sinus infection is gone and he doesn't want to do anything because he says he's very conservative with surgery! that's the good news, the bad news is that he is sending me to an allergist because he said the reason I am still sick is that I have severe allergies.

I'm really sorry that you have to have the surgery. I'll continue to check back to see what's your outcome. I really wish you the best. SERIOUSLY.

I have never been treated or diagnosed with allergies before but I have alienated many women by telling them their perfume is making me sick and the last few years just being around groups of women makes me sick because of all the fragrance. I also have walked around with beet red eyes sneezing all day every day....and all of that for way too long so I guess it's about time I get to the bottom of that.

Thanks for listening to all my griping...

Yeah, I feel pretty scared also. I mean I dont know if Im necessarily even equipped to go into surgery. Im fatigued and short of breath, and then after the surgery its going to be worse because i wont be able to breath through nose for 3 days or so.
Yeah Im in extreme facial pan and really harsh coughing i thought i cracked a rib nearly. Also get headaches and am extremely sensitive to light.
Yeah i feel you, i also seem to forget to tell my DR or ENT some of my symptoms because Im sooo worn out and having hard time concentrating. Come back to tell me how your CT scan came up and tell me if your ENT plans surgery. Also if he/she puts you on any breathing medications that will help.

The ENT will probably put you on another course of AB before the surgery  if you need it. Im taking another course until my surgery and then ANOTHER course after! Yeah I feel to sick to even be operated on, its going to suckk needless to say.

Yeah ive been out of work, i feel you. Its pretty unfortunate. I keep getting down on myself since Im just so used to being active working and doing everything i can.

The ENT said very minimal about the procedure. He will discuss it a little later. He better not touch my turbinates! I will tell him to watch out for those i dont wanna end up with ENS. Im going to ask mine and ask yours also and get back to me on it. thanks

Sounds all to familiar! Thanks for filling me in, I feel pretty scared about all of this actually.

I feel severely sick with EXTREME pain, harsh coughing etc. I'm so photophobic that driving is difficult and I can't wear sunglasses because it cause such extreme pain on my face and nose.

When I finally got to see the ENT I was so ill I and worn out I couldn't really get into depth about my symptoms--so no on the breathing medications-- but tomorrow I will let him know more of the extent of it but by then he's already seen my CT scan so I imagine he will have some sort of plan.

I'm afraid that the ENT won't continue the ABs and today is my last day, the 2 other times I took them I ended up so much sicker so I can't imagine what would happen giving these bugs a chance to grow again. The thing is that I feel entirely too sick to have surgery but I guess that's the deal isn't it?

I own my company and right now it's a one woman show, so I'm training someone to do what she can and then I accepted a project on the side that I'm trying to deal with and I have a book being released on the 5th that if I get called for interviews and or book signings there is just no way. I can't decide whether to push for something like IV AB until I can deal with all of this or just do what he suggests. I guess it will all pan out somehow.

did you ask about ENS and what the risk is on that? Are they touching your turbinates?

well I got done with a months course and my ct scan still showed I had am infecion. So I went to my ent and he said we need to get surgery. Then I went to my primary and put me back on some more amoxicillan. I'm afraid I'll get resistant to whatever it it. My scan showed a opacified maxillary sinus. So I've been short of breath (I'm starting to use an inhaled for the first time ever) and haven't benefited yet. I'm fatigued allday. Been off work school and feeling lousy. So I don't know how much worse it could get I'll just try my hand at this surgery.
So after a month of anitbiotics mine didn't go away I hope yours will be different. Are you on anything for your breathing issue? I hate taking **** for asthma.
Thanks for your support I'll definatly come back while im recovering to tell how it went.

Are you still on antibiotics? and are you fearful of the surgery? AND did you get a CT scan? I also have had lung issues, it's from that deadly **** dripping down into your lungs. Do you feel well enough for surgery?

There is no way I could be awake for any sort of probing in that area. I have had this for at least 2 years but was sick prior with something else and thought for a long time I was still recovering.

I realized several months ago that this is not related and the pain was so over the top I couldn't work and was doing things with my eyes closed.

I'm at the end of 28 days of Amoxacillin and it's improved but certainly not great I feel very very sick. Had the CT scan yesterday and will see the ENT on Thurs. No matter what he says I will be freaking out, I can't deal with this much longer.

I await your results anxiously and I hope/pray that all goes well.

Yeah my infection has been going on for quite some time (3 months). I get endoscopic surgery in a week (wish me luck). Hopefully ill come back to tell you if i benefited. It ***** because supposedly this triggered lung problems also. Im having such a hard time breathing and i guess its because of this hellish sinus infection. Whatever, I just hope my ENT is dumb and wont screw up and end up with some Empty nose syndrome that i recently foudn out about. Facial pains is pretty intense as well.

Wow, i wouldnt wanna be awake through that!!! WOW haha. I can barely put up with my ENT looking up nose with that tool ha
