Help, has anyone....

Has any had endoscopic sinus surgery before? Is it worth it for a chronic sinus infection? If any of you has had this procedure I would greatly appreciate the pros and cons of the experience. thanks

Yeah I used to think the dentist was invading my personal space until I got my sinues examined. OMGOSH. I was in such over the top pain after that too.

Due to a tooth infection, I ended up with my first sinus infection ever. 4 months, 6 bottles of penicillin, steroid nose spray, sinus irrigation, and an in-office sinus procedure (poke hole in nose bone, hose out sinuses) later, I am finally feeling pretty normal again. Good grief! Some of you have been through this for years. My left nostril still seems slightly restricted, but finally I'm not getting the face pain, eye pain, jaw pain, headache, and completely closed nostril that I put up with for 4 months. If it comes back again my ENT will probably do endoscopic surgery. Personally, I'd rather have the surgery than go through any of that misery again. Just don't do the in-office procedure on me again, because I never want to be awake for such horror ever again.

Severe eye, cheekbone, nose, and forehead pain. Feeling extremely sick. Stuff dripping down throat. Coughing especially worse at night. Nausea, and chills by the time I got to see the ENT. Fullness and PRESSURE in the head. Blurred vision, watering eyes.

It feels like a bad cold I guess with severe pain to put it simply. I do have some relief from the ABs and I don't want to EVER feel as sick as I was feeling. I am pretty much freaking out now because I don't want surgery. I have read on getting IV AB prior to surgery and that way they only have to correct the deviation and not scrape out lots of stuff. But I doubt this doctor I'm going to will go for that.

Yeah, I just off of a month of anti biotics and still have the infection. I was in a car accident several years back and also didnt realize my septum was messed up as well. I didnt even realize i had allergies either. I'm having trouble breathing and I am kind of reluctant to do surgery. My ENT thinks its necessary but I dont know. Is there any other way?

What are your symptoms?

I also have a chronic sinus infection. I'm in my 4th week of Amoxacillin (3rd AB) and tomorrow getting a CT scan.

I broke my nose 6 years ago and didn't realize that's when me "allergy" symptoms started. I have a deviated septum and I'm not significantly improved after medical treatment.

I've been irrigating my sinuses 4-5 times a day with a pulsating irrigation system. Prior to seeing an ENT I tried elimination diet for 6 months, not eating wheat corn dairy or peanuts. No caffeine, alcohol, sugar, or processed foods. The rest of my lifestyle habits are also good.

After reading about empty nose syndrome I'm utterly terrified to undergo surgery. But I still have to see what the CT scan says.
