And as for the insurance company...

I'm pulling out my hair right now.  I'm about to start going crazy.  My insurance company is stressing me out, and making me very angry.
I had my surgery about 3 weeks before we got coverage.  They have so far refused to cover any further treatment for me, because it is a preexisting condition.  I have to wait a year.  I can't do that, because I have a feeling I'll need more surgery before then.
This is bs and stupid.  I feel like I'm being punished.  I don't understand how they rationalize this.  This isn't fair.  I know it's the law but I feel like ONCE AGAIN no one wants to help me.
I hope to God that something will be done about this.  Our insurance in the US is broken and needs to be fixed.  So I guess I just have to wait.

You know, I had to pay for most of my surgery out of pocket since I had a large cyst that was causing me to pass out.  I went to the ER and they found me a private person to do it.  $4,000 isn't so bad.

hi Teddy...I"m in the SAME situation kinda.  I believe I have endo and so does my doctor.  Well both doctors I went to actually but the first one wasn't much help as far as anything else.  I've been married for 10 years and haven't been able to get pregnant plus I'm in so much pain and I KNOW something is wrong.  So, my first doctor was more worried about getting me pregnant since i'm "30" than seeing what the problem was.  He actually told me my "biological clock is ticking".  He didn't want to help me with the pain I'm constantly in..and the only thing he put me on was birth control because I was bleeding as of that time 18 days in a row.  I even had to call him then to see if he could help me with anything and they just treated me like I was a "problem" and I didn't need that.  SO now my new dr. believes I have endo as well.  My aunt had to have a hysterectomy at 29 because of it.  Anyways, as far as being in the same boat you are in I did have the insurance only for about 3 months though before I went to the doctor.  The first dr. did a transvaginal ultrasound and found that I had 2 cysts on my right ovary and 1 on my left and there was also a spot on/in my uterus.  He never told me what it was or if he was going to do any further testing(another reason I left).  Later on with the new dr. there was tests she wanted to do and I wanted to make sure the insurance company was going to pay for them first.  I called the insurance company and they said "no" and I couldn't understand why because I never been to the dr. before so I really didn't think I was under the category of "pre existing" but I found out I was.  Thanks to the first dr. who put on my chart that the "spot" showing up on/in my uterus was "possible fibroid" so now the tests aren't covered because fibroids are considered pre-existing.  SO here I am in your position.  I can't get any kind of surgery or test done because of my pre existing condition.  I hurt so bad and the only thing she could do was put me on birth control.  I've been taking them for 2 months now and they seem ok.  I still hurt but what else can I do?  I have no other options.  I even went through places like the "Patient Advocacy Foundation" to try and get help. Anyways, I wish you the best of luck.  It's a bad situation to be in needing help and can't get any and I completely agree with you someone..needs to seriously do something about our insurance companies and our health care.  I have to wait until April of 2010 to get any kind of more in depth tests or even the laparascopic surgery. I made so many phone calls after I found out the insurance wouldn't cover the tests, I fought so hard and didn't want to give up but I was at a dead end. I still wished there was someone I could call for help...someone I could go through to get help but I can't. Unfortunately I'm at a dead end and now i'm having to deal with birth control as my only option which isn't working.  I know telling you my sotry isn't really "helping" but maybe you could go through someone like the "Patient Advocacy Center" since you already had your surgery and they're denying to pay for any other treatment after.   I wish you well...
                                                                          Sincerely,
                                                                              Desarae

While that would be a good idea. I don't submit the claims, the clinic does. I also don't want to go to jail for insurance fraud. So I think I think I'm just going to try and work with them.

Can you get out of it by saying the next surgery is for something else they actually don't know what it is till they operate meaning if it is a cyst and doc classifies it as that you should be covered. Endo is preexisting but treatment isn't the lupron shots or birth control have the doc list as birth control or something. Talk to the doc first and see most docs work with you. I had a doc write welbutrin as a depressant when it was actually for trying to quit smoking but insurance wouldn't pay if it was for smoking but would for depression. You mite be able to find a way
