Lupron or no Lupron for IVF

Ok so i'm 6dpiui, for my third and last IUI.. I have pcos and endo and we also have male factor! so my hopes are not very high that IUI will work, so we are trying to plan our next step - which is IVF but we have a few issues I"m having trouble deciding on.. first of all my lap was 4 months ago and they removed most of my left ovary, which isnt' functioning anymore and they really didn't clean up the rest of the endo, due to the location (bowel, bladder, ureters et) well i've since done two cycles of femara, and then this one femara + injectables... before IVF should we do lupron for 3 months for endo suppression? ( i hear its ify if it helps the chances with iVF or not.. my RE doesn't feel strongly that it helps) or should I go to an endo specialist and have exicion surgery before trying IVF.... or should we just do the regular IVF - 2 weeks of lupron before? we are paying out of pocket so I really want to do everythign in my power to have the best chances we can have with the first one! I'm afraid my endo has gotten worse being on all these drugs!  ANY thoughts/opinions are GREATLY GREATLY appreciated!  I'm just not sure what to do!

thank you so very much for your opinion/advice! i really appreicate it!! thats kind of what i've been hearing! and i'm also typically a very optimistic chipper person, but this whole ttc thing has been rough on me and defintely made me not my chipper self, so it does worry me to add that on top of it all!!!   they say it doens't help fertility, but a few studies have shown that it might with IVF.. but my RE doesn't really think so either way!   humm.. its a lot of money to spend if it doens't work : (       thank you so very much ! good luck to you! we'll have a decision in a week or so! yikes!

Hi!

I was on Femara for 6 months, then Lupron shots for 1 year, neither of which significantly helped my endometriosis.  I can only speak from my experience, but I had a terrible time on Lupron.  After starting Lupron, I still had periods for 6 months (they actually got WORSE - heavier, even more painful - for the first 3/4 months!).  I also became really, really depressed while on Lupron.  Honestly, it was almost like psychotic depression - and I'm usually a pretty positive gal.  It certainly didn't help my fertility either.  Although the Lupron did "shrink" some of the lesions (after being on it for 1 year), I finally made the choice to have another laparoscopy last month and had more lesions removed.  I have a similar situation as you - I have lesions on my bowels, bladder, diaphragm, etc. that can't be "touched", so medications seemed like the only choice.  I don't know if I would recommend Lupron though.  It was really, really rough and ultimately didn't help me much.  But that's my experience and I just thought it was worth sharing.  I know sometimes it seems hopeless and it is unfair that we were dealt these odds, but don't give up hope.  Our attitude/outlook is the only thing we really do have some control over!  Good luck to you!  Let me know if I can ever offer advice or support.

Blessings, Lori Ann
