Well the most common side affects of lupron that most people get are hot flashes, vaginal dryness, moodswings and headaches. But there are also other side affects they don't tell ya about like the slight weight gain or the insomnia that some women get with it. I had hotflashes and insomnia but when I told my re about the insomnia he said that wasn't a side effect. But there are i am sure some woman on here that would tell ya different. Such as me I had nine months of insomnia. I think you have to weight the pros and cons of the drug against whatever symptoms you are already having and research the drug until you are sure you have all the facts. I think there are people who have great stories and others who have horror stories about lupron. But in the long run you have to educate yourself and make a decision based on the facts and what you feel comfortable doing. The most important thing is to not go by others experiances because everyone reacts different to meds. Some people get bad side effects but other people get none. I think the best thing to do is educate yourself and make a choice your okay with not take other peoples word for it.
I dont know how many people are aware that lupron is chemotherapy drug.I have endo and afraid to take it to control the endo, what are the typical side effects?
I am also currently on Lupron. I had breakthrough bleeding the first month and a half, very heavy. I am currently on my third month and no more bleeding and starting to feel better from the Lupron. I would ask your doctor but it might need some more time to start supressing you more. I just met with a fertility specialist and he said that a lot of times it takes until month 3 on Lupron to receive the full benefits. Good luck.
Hi Anna,
I am sorry your not having such a good time on lupron depot. I did 6 once monthly shots like you are. I had loads of pain and heavy break thru bleeding while I was on it. My gyn told me that if you continue to have bleeding and pain it means the lupron isn't suppressing you the way it was meant to. My gyn and re both told me that some women either can't be suppresses or it takes alot longer to suppress them with lupron. I also tried once daily shots of lupron for 4 months and had the same result of bleeding and pain. So I gave up on lupron and had another lap to take care of the pain issues. I am doing birth control pills right now and after I have my next lap I will go right back on them. My gyn told me if I have pain or bleeding on lupron to contact him. So I think if your dr. doesn't already kno about the problems your having call him and discuss whether lupron is something you want to continue or how long he/she feels you should keep trying with lupron. Hope that helps, good luck
Kim
