Risk factors of getting off the pill given my history!!

I am 28yrs old now ,since I started my period @11yrs old it has been an endless nightmare, of severe bleeding, PMDD (severe depression, anxiety, mood swings) and cramps so bad that I would pass out!! So i tried every home remedy and not to mention I was an athlete but nothing worked...fast forward to last year when I had to have the IUD taken out because it completely messed me up (it was sliding out, and it moved so much that it  constanty poked on my uterus causing severe pain/paralyzing me during my menses) so i was put on YAZ early last year and the NIGHTMARE continued, I have gone from 118Lbs to 153Lbs!!! in a 1 and 1/2yrs and the cellulite/stretch marks is also out of control!!! I can't bring myself to wear a bathing suit!!! I have a very heavy workout routine 5 days a week and I haven't lost even one pound and not to mention I eat very healthy meals and I can't even loose a 1 pound!!! 0 sex drive as well...I was diagnosed with ENDOMOTROSIS early this year and just had surgery done/laparoscopy to take out the cells in my utereus two months ago. The DR. highly recommends that I stay on YAZ to control the endomotrosis and chances of having it develop to be cancerous, but i have had it with this crap, I hate my body now and I hate going out or taking pictures with my family and friends. I tried to contact my obyn to discuss my options but she scheduled me to see her in two months, I'm definitely getting off this useless pill with or without discussing it with my OBGYN....I can't let this pill run my LIFE!!! any suggestions as to what else I can take???

Hi Bub,

Thanks for the advice I'll ask my obgyn about Dianette at my next appointment (in a month).I stopped taking the pill two weeks ago, but i have to admit, I'm nervous about my PMS/PMDD during my menses in a couple of weeks. But I'm willing to deal with the pain, discomfort etc as opposed to taking Yaz. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!

I'm on something called Dianette, which is something you can get in the UK, not sure about the states...it controls the systimatic bleeding that I used to suffer from and my polycystic ovarian syndrome. As for weight gain I'm with you there...hope that helps you as much as it helped me,

You sound so much like me.

I am an athlete, and i suffered from severe mood swings, depression and anxiety as well.

After being diagnosed with endo I was put on a low dose BCP called Marvelon. I take it continuously without taking a break. I have found that it has helped me alot.  If i come off it I think I will go mental (as i have tried before)

I have heard alot of bad things about YAZ and I was also told that BCP are not responsible for weight gain. If you are gaining weight I would ask for another Ultrasound to see if you have any cysts.

I totally understand how you feel. I was always around 120-130 but since this endo business I seem to fluctuate between 140-155. I cant stand it and I have lots and lots of cellulite.

It is so depressing I do agree with you. Sometimes I want to scream.

Only advice that I can give you is you be the judge of your own body and stand up for what you believe and take control of your health, dont let a doctor tell you what to do.  if that pill is not working try another one, and if that doesnt work try another one.

For some reason this low dosage one I am on seems to work, it fascinates the doctors
