I take 5 mg of oxycodone every 3-4 hours for the really severe pain. I'm in pain 24/7 unless I'm laying back sitting absolutely still. At first I took an oxy/APAP, but the APAP made me so very nauseous and dizzy that I requested a med without APAP. Before I knew I had endo and my pain was getting to be constant and severe (cuz I was still working ) I took so much midol, pamprin, alieve, tylenol, advil, and naproxen that I began passing stool that was nothing but blood and I became anemic. Ever since then (3years ago) I haven't taken any of those things I mentioned above. Truth is just now surfacing about how dangerous and damaging APAP is to the body, so do some research and share that info with your doctor.
I only take the oxy when I am crying and screaming in pain or I am unable to make it to the toilet and back or can't so much as move my arm or breathe normally cuz moving my abdomen even that little makes the pain unbearable. I have not experienced any neg side effects with my medicine; I get a little drowsy, but sleep is welcome and it's not a scary knock-out like I've experienced with darvocet right after my surgery. I also eat oragnic/raw foods and do not consume dairy, gluten, MSG, or alcohol. I also use EFT to release pent up neg emotions and use visualization to connect to pain and allow it.
Hope this helps =]
I use fish oil. It's very helpful. It's also very good for you, it helps a lot even with my mood swings brought on by the disease.
I live in Quebec and I know what you mean I am 10 weeks post op from my laparotomy for removal of bilateral endometriomas and adhesions and my gynecologist does not seem interested in wanting to help me. She just said take the depo shot and come back and see me in 6 months.
I am so frustrated and as you know since my family doctor will not give me another referral, he says my gynecologist is fine I am out of luck trying to see another specialist.
I've had endo for 14 years now so I've tried EVERYTHING!!! What Crystal describes as military doctors is equivalent to Canadian doctors. They are clueless about endo and they do not want to prescribe narcotics because of the addiction rate.
I was told that acupuncture is great. There is also pelvic yoga. Certain Physiotherapy clinics specialize in pelvic massages. Meditation.
I never thought that these would help. Personally, I've experienced the times where pain is so bad, you just want to pop a pill and make all of it go away. Unfortunately, with every pill, comes a side effect.
Pain management would be a great idea. Unfortunately, where I live, they only accept cancer patients.
Good luck and keep us updated!
I was on all kinds of pain meds- mostly narcotics- I have a VERY high tolerance for medication- but just BE CAREFUL as you can become addicted VERY easily- SEE PAIN MANAGEMENT- they will help you and I am sure there are plenty around where you live!!!!!!!!
Off my period when I get bad pains I take Excedrin Migraine. I know its for headaches but it really does work for other things, I also sometimes take Ibuprofen, which my doctor says she worries about me taking cause I take it so much that she is afraid I am going to destroy my kidneys. On my period I take Vicodin. It knocks the **** outta me, but at least I can work through my pain. I am on my feet 11 hours a day at work, so I need something. It doesn't take it completely away, but it helps me tolerate it better. I have a doctors note that lets me sit at work when needed.
My pain is pretty bad during and the days after my periods. It's so bad that it takes up all of my energy: I can't work, can't sleep, cry a lot (not because of hormones, but because of the pain). I am now taking Nurofen and also have accupuncture sessions and the combination of the two really seems to work wonders.
I have used Darvocet. That works really well for me. Takes the pain almost completely away, so I can sleep. I obviously can't take it during the day, so I end up overdosing on ibuprofen during the day. Fortunately my pain only comes when I have my period.
im with the military so ihave to deal with them not wanting to give controlled substances. They love 800 motrin which is a laugh on its own and an insult. Ive tried percasset(spelling) doesnt really work just makes me feel drowsy, vicadin nope, naproxen nope, naperson nope... Id like to know maybe theres a way to get my point across to the idiot military doctors that i need something better than a anti immflamitory.
Im curious too... I dont know what to do now... Im going to go to a pain specialist... I hope they can help me... good luck to you
I think i would try pretty much anything right now...So I am going to check on that? Any other meds that you have tried or procedures?
My gyno. told me that the Levsin wouldn't really help with the pain, but it usually did for me. My gastro. doctor wrote the prescription for me. My gyno. believed that if the Levsin was helped, that I probably didn't have endo, and they were wrong so... whatever works. It at least worked for me knowing that if I would take it that it would provide me with some relief and I know that I would be OK.
I use Demerol. I am allergic to Motrin. I haven't heard of the Levsin I am going to ask my doctor about it on the 17th.
For me, especially due to my stomach problems, I have used a medication called Levsin. It's an anti-spazmatic for your stomach. It usually helped me when I had diarrhea and things like that. It helped with the cramps. It would at least give me relief so I could fall back asleep at night when the pain would wake me up. You might want to look into it, or something a little heavier like 800 mg of motrin that your doctor could give to you.
