severe endometriosis

I had a laproscopy done yesterday. It showed I have severe endo and massive scar tissue that my Dr said he couldn't remove. He took some samples to do sum biopsies in them. It also showed I had lesions but he was more concerned about my massive scar tissue. Does anyone know y he couldn't remove the scar tissue? Has anyone else experienced this? Kinda nervous n would appreciate any feedback. I'm 29. The Dr said I had two options. 1 is I could get the shot and it would put my end in remission but will also put me n menapousd or 2 have a hysterectomy. I have no kids and always dreamed of having one. But its not looking good.

Hi I have just joined and posted similar question. Few years ago I had laparoscopy to remove scar tissue caused by cs, while there surgeon had noticed early stage of endo and also that scar tissue was covering bladder and bowel areas. Was told they couldn't remove anymore due to the risks of damaging bladder and bowel etc,I also was told I was or could be infertile, they suggested injection to bring on menopause or get hysterectomy. Luckily I was shocked by this and said I would go away and think of options. After doing research, reading all the problems and complications that go along with these I requested to see a different gyno, he was in shock! He said no way of knowing ur  infertile unless you practice getting pregnant,he also said they were wrong on giving me those two options at such a young age. He hasnow suggested i try helium beam treatment, for both scar tissue and endo, as this can remove surface tissue and adhesion s without damaging anything behind it. Also with the laparoscopy treatment I was pain free for short time, but like you said it does grow back, but I personally would rather paonfree for short time rather than in pain all the time. I will update on here when iv had helium beam, let you know if it works and obv how long for. I just wish you all the best and know that you are not alone, this is a great site and maybe one day we will all get treated and feel better.

Hi, im 25 i was finally diagnosed with stage IV endo in feb, after 5+ years of pain, ive passed out around 18-20 times due to the pain, i have a 6 year old child and the doc thinks i may have had it as a teen due to really heavy periods, they started at 11, spending days in bed, but endo only gets worse if left untreated, i have been ttc for 2 years with no luck, that along with the pain and hospital admissions, they finally agreed to do an internal scan that revealed a few endo cysts, so from there all happened quite quickly, within 4 months i had my lap that showed very server endo with kissing overies, stuck to my uterus, 2 large cysts and alot of scar tissue (they have burnt all scar tissue found and cysts drained) a hysterectomy was never brought up in conversation, we have sat down and drew up an action plan on what i want and what he suggests, at the moment they are leaving me to ttc for 3 months if nothing then going to start on injections in my stomach for 6 months (not looking forward) but it may have to be done, also spoke about the IUI procedure and even IVF!! so i think you should have the choice, its your life after all xx

Hysterectomy is not the answer and I feel really bad that you had one done at your age.

There are many women including myself who have severe endo and the same problems with the disease and having a hysterectomy will not stop the growth of Endo.

When it comes to infertility it doesn't matter what stage it is at some people can be infertile with minimal endo. I had stage IV and had a child.

Was this your first surgery?

Did they excise the endo out or use laser?

Doctors who are educated in this disease do no push for Hysterectomies because they know it will not cure the disease. Most women have them after trying many meds, surgeries until they are sick and tired and have one and its a 50/50 chance of you not having future issues or disease.

21 is very young for this to have happened. I really hope he educated you on early dementia with having one done so early, early onset of osteoperosios and various other problems.

I am not trying to scare you but most doctors and patients don't research this or know until afterwards when it happens.

. Im 21 and I just had a hysterectomy because I had a huge "chocolate cyst" covering my ovary hemridging (leaking) blood and bad toxins into my body poisoning me, along with extremely bad endometriosis. I had infertility due to to how bad my endo was. It was spreading really bad and fast. He wanted me to do the shot once a month, but I haven't really heard it helping a lot. Mine was bad to where I had to have everything removed. I would get everything removed if its bad so you don't have to deal with it any longer.

Just by you telling me that he said he could have taken it out but more would grow in its place makes me want to scream my face off.

You really need a second opinion and I am glad you are doing that.

When having surgery for Endometriosis ALL Endo must be excised to lessen the chance of reccurance. Yes it most likely will grow back but you are better off doing it the right way in order for it to make a difference.

If you have anymore questions please feel free to post of message me. I am here to help any way I can.

Endometriosis is one of the 3 reasons why a women is infertile.

I had stage IV and I am positive I had it since I was 15yrs old to that degree and yes I had a child, it took longer to conceive, and it was a natural birth and delivery.

My surgeon has no idea how I even got pregnant as everything inside was wrapped around my uterus.

The only way to know is to try. There is no yes or no answer because many women conceive with stage IV while there are some women with just Stage I that cant.

An Endometriosis surgeon is your best bet. I am just still not understanding why they did not remove the scar tissue that is so bizarre.

He is wrong uneducated and not skilled for this surgery. Please believe me. There is no reason why he couldn't do this.

Read my journals on my profile I as well had stage IV Endo with massive adhesions from a. Surgery done when I was 7

Also no meds put you in remission no matter what this guy is trying to tell you. Lupron does not do this and a hyster will not stop this from happening this surgeon is uneducated and you be to find a surgeon that specializes in this disease.

I have battled this disease for 24 yrs only to be diagnosed 7 yrs ago and trust me I have done my research and I have talked to top surgeons as well as various women with this disease.

I can't say this enough get a second option from an endometriosis specialist.
