Surgery; Is It My Last Option

Hello Ladies,

I have been suffering with what may be endo for approx. 3 years now.  At one point I did end up in the ER, they thought it was my appendix.  Morphine was not even strong enough to eliminate the pain.  I have been through CT Scans, blood work, a colonoscopy you name it, it all came back clean.  My gyn put me on birth control pills which at times, just takes the edge off but the pain still continues.  Recently I have been close to fainting.  I would have the sweats, chills, lower back pain, nausea, and of course severe cramping, can not even drive the car.  The bumps send me through the roof.  My Dr. suggests surgery at this point.  I am doing reserch to determine if this is the route I should take.  I am 40+, with 2 children and not planning on more.  I would hate to go through the procedure for the Dr. to say there was no endo.  The pain does not last longer for 1 day.  Sometimes for an hour or up to 6-8 hours.  Mostly during mid cycle but lately happening all over the board.  Has anyone shared these symptoms and what did YOU do?  Thank you

Hi I agree with the other ladies about the surgery. My symptoms were very similar to yours. I'd be doubled over in pain one day and then fine the next. At first I thought it was only during my period but then I'd have a lot of pain in the middle of the month and none during my cycle. A laparoscopic surgery isn't that bad. The incisions are really small, and imagine having some of that pain eliminated! Even if you don't have it at least you'd be able to rule it out. Good luck.

I completely agree with anniebaby.  It sounds exactly what I was going through most of my life after realizing I had endometriosis.  I had a colonoscopy and an upper GI track check and bloodwork, everything was clean as well.  I had the sweats, the pain, doubled over, couldn't move.  The only thing that would help slightly is a ton of heating pads, wraps, etc... and also some Levsin pills for the gastroentorologist which helped with some of the cramping when I felt this pains coming on.  Usually woke me up in the middle of the night, was up for an hour or two, and then could fall back asleep.  Usually happened once/twice a month. I had no clue what it was until I had an infection and was referred to a gastro doctor which then he thought it was endo.  I was anxious to do the surgery as well but in hopes to get pregnant soon I didn't want to wait.  I would consider doing the laporoscopy for sure and see how it goes.  Hope this helps!!
