pain management

Can anyone share other than surgery what has helped them manage pain?

I had an exploratory laparoscopy done 6/6 where significant endometriosis was found. I am now waiting on surgery to excise it and drill holes in ovaries on the 31st of July. Since the start of May  (had a d&c done 5/5 due to unstoppable bleeding since October) i have been living on endone and penadaine forte all day every day and i am in agony. Have been using a heat pad and  hot water  bottle.

23 more days of waiting it out.
Thanks!

Codie

A lot of the pain that you are in could be because of adhesion's. If you want take a look at my profile and I have written down a technique called body rolling

That sounds like a very interesting technique, does it hurt while doing it? I am afraid I would get stuck on the ground as it still hurts to bend.

You can do it on your bed to make it less painful. If it is scar tissue it will hurt a bit to break up. I do it on the floor and I lie on top of the softball.  I had a very big lump under my scar from a prior surgery. When I was doing the ball rolling I would feel this gush of blood go through my body down my leg because the scar tissue was breaking up. As soon as it got too painful I stopped then tried again another day. The more you do it the faster it will break up the scar tissue. I the lump is almost gone and I didnt do it that many times. It is worth trying. The technique has shown such success with scar tissue, endometriosis, infertility etc.

Check out Clear Passage Therapy. The man who invented the technique is amazing. You can email and ask any question you want and they are very helpful. If you live close to one of the places that offer this in the US then it would probably be even more beneficial for you since you are in so much pain when bending.

He told me to use a golf ball or a tennis ball if the softball was too much for me. Only you can judge your own threshold of pain so change it up.

I have lived in Chronic pain for over 20yrs now and I am only 35yrs old. I have Stage IV endometriosis and damage due to adhesions and PID.  This has helped alot. I only wish that I lived in the US to get this treatment done at the clinics.

Instead of a hot water bottle and heating pad recommend ice packs. The hot water bottle may feel good at first but in the long run it makes everything worse by increasing the inflammation caused by endo.

I hope this helps,

Thank you for your response, I will buy some different size balls and try it. Just to clarify was the bleeding internally or externally? I have developed a fear of blood due to bleeding for so long. I really need to try something other than pain killers. I am on 8 nurofen, 3 endones, 4 panadaine forte and 2 panadols a day just to be able to get out of bed for a while. It isn’t an ideal situation but it is what my doctor has prescribed. Can endometriosis grow that quickly? The exploratory laparoscopy showed significant endometriosis but I am now in more pain then what I was before it.

Thank you for the clear passage therapy, would he respond to people in Australia?  I will try messaging him. Thankfully my gyno is also a reproductive endocrinologist and is very helpful, I have an appointment with an endocrinologist on the 6th of August, it was the soonest I could get in when I booked back in May. Wow, I really don’t understand how you could go on for that long in chronic pain! I really feel sorry for you! I am almost 21 and I guess my issues have been going on since I got my period when I was 11, I have never had a normal cycle, I would skip months then I went from 2009-2011 without a period, then when I got it back after being diagnosed with PCOS in 2010, it would last weeks at a time then it became constant in October – May. I finally sought help after filling pads and going through tampons within a few minutes in January. My pain really started in May though and I have been on pain killers since.

Thank you for your input achilles92,  I would LOVE to use a ice pack but it would be to cold as I am in Australia where it is winter, would I be better off not using anything then rather than heat?  I find the heat helps not feeling the pain for a while but it does come back quickly as soon as I take it off.
Thank you

Unfortunately diet hasn't helped, since March i have lost 22 pounds through eating differently, though i am not overweight for my height i have a healthy range bmi. I tried acupuncture twice, no relief. I have stopped all pain killers as they don't help. Unfortunately my surgery had to be cancelled until the 6th of next month. Just want it over  and done with.

Hi Codielou

I am in the UK and unfortunately endo is very badly managed over here. It's an effort just to get a diagnosis so pain management is unheard of! I am also allergic to paracetamol and codine so the only pain killer I can take is Ibroprofen and I am currently over dosing on them. I have to take time off of work to manage the pain, the only thing I did find that marginally helped was following a weight watchers diet though I had to do it for a few months to notice a difference but to be truthful it mainly helped with the fatigue which helped me to deal with the pain (if that makes sense). A colleague of mine has suggested a wheat free diet (she's also got the dreaded disease). I just can't bring myself to try it, I feel like it controls enough of my life without it now telling me what I can and can't eat!
The Doctors over here recommend pregnancy as they say it is the only known cure. We are currently TTC as my endo is getting worse by the day so will let you know as and when that happens.

If you find anything that works please do let me know :)

P.S I asked a pharmacist for advice the other day and he recommended a hot water bottle -> I very nearly hit him!!! Bl@*dy men! :)

Going on a wheat free diet is a great idea over 80% of women with endo also have problems with wheat or gluten. This could help your pain tremendously. But you have to be willing to follow it-- that means finding hidden sources of wheat or gluten. Incidently if your body needs you to go on a gluten free diet if you do not you will be destroy your intestines by increasing inflammation. I getting gluten and dairy out of my diet has been wonderful. Not only does it help with pain but also fatigue. Also gluten can contribute to infertility I recommend that you contact Dian Mills. She is a fellow suffer of endo that has been able to help herself and others:

Hi Cat2905 ,
I am so sorry that you are also having a difficult time with endo, it is such a horrible thing to deal with! Especially with being allergic to paracetamol and codeine, so your only option is taking ibroprofen.  Are they helping to give you a little relief? Unfortunely ibroprofen doesn’t do anything for me, neither does any stronger pain killers. Is your work place understanding with you having to take time off? It defiantly makes sense, I am glad it has helped you a little! I feel the same as you, that it controls too much already without saying what to eat. Sadly it has taken working and university from me, I had to defer this year when I should be graduating this December instead of next December now. I wish you all the luck in trying to conceive!! My GP has jokingly told me to find a guy and get pregnant, not going to happen anytime soon! I am 21 in 3 weeks and defiantly not ready for children. – If my surgery goes ahead on the 6th I will turn 21 4 days later. Woo what an amazing birthday. I have had 6 surgeries cancelled this year, so I am losing faith it will happen.
Men, gosh! They are lucky they don’t have to deal with this stuff! :)
