Stomach Pain

I am 26 years old. I weigh 134 lbs. My stomach is hurting at the upper left side. It doesn't hurt when I sleep. It just hurt when I am awake. What can be the cause of my pain?

The stomach pain doesn't wake me at night. I only get the pain when I am awake. The pain comes and goes.  I will try to cut down on fried food to see if it will stop hurting. It has been hurting for about a week. I am going to take Pepcid for a while to see if it will help.

I would first try and see if you can correlate it to any specific foods by cutting out different foods.  Things to try are fried foods, spicy foods, lactose, etc.  I assume by not having any pain when you sleep you mean that the pain doesn't wake you up at night.

My bowel habits are the same. I eat a lot of fried food. I know it is bad for me. Its come and goes while I am awake. When I am sleep, I don't have any pain.

It could be a lot of different things.  Have you had any change in you bowel habits or have you been eating any different type of food?  How long has this been going on for?  Does it always hurt when you are awake or does it come and go?
