Continuous headaches. Whats the next step?

Hi there. I had headaches for the past few days(almost a week). My headaches are irregular. I can still bear the pain of my headaches but sometimes when it gets too painfull,i cant take it. I too control myself not to take too much paracetamol, during this week i only took 1 pill. But if it prolongs, i might not be able to bear the pain anymore. Should i continue to the the pain killers or should i see a doctor? This is killin me.

PS.  Your wisdom tooth could very well be the root (no pun intended) of the problem.  A new tooth in popping up in your mouth is probably causing inflammation and causing you to hold your jaw in a way that you typically do not... this can definitely cause you to develop headaches.  You may want to try something like Ibuprofen (an "NSAID") to see if it is more effective at relieving your pain.

Are you able to see a dentist?  He or she may need to check out your wisdom tooth to determine whether or not it needs to be pulled.  Lots of people, especially women, simply do not have enough room for wisdom teeth and it may be ideal for you to have it removed.

Again, hang in there!  I hope you are able to get this resolved quickly.  Headaches, of any kind, are no fun at all!

Hello~I strongly suggest that you see a chiropractor. They specialize in helping to get rid of headaches. You probably have some misplaced vertebrae in your neck and they are pressing on nerves. A few treatments should have you pain free in no time.

I currently have no fever at all. But my headaches are still there. I controlled myself not to take too much panadol(paracetamol) cause it isnt good to do so. So sometimes I would just take the pain but when im studying,i would take panadol if it is really painful. I feel like knocking my head on the wall rn. Its been over a week now. Maybe i will ask one of my friend who is a GP. Will update you soon! Thanks for the advice.

Okay sounds good. Also, SloMag is magnesium with calcium. Magnesium is good for migraines if you have them. You have to get diagnosed first. My neighbor had them daily for years. Unfortunately, she had to try a lot of things. But now they have new medications. Any new change like that has to be diagnosed. I have a positive EEG. So because I have vertigo plus visual, and also throwing up at night and double vision and flying lights. I take a lot of different meds. In my 20's I didn't get diagnosed for a while because they didn't know much back then. But a migraine specialist can help. They first put me on Klonopin because of the stomach issues at night. then after I got auras that was okay but then later the vertigo was so bad I fell over so I was put on Cyproheptadine and amitriptilyne  but that didn't work so I'm not on the Klonopine plus, Trokendi XR and low dose amitriptilyne with 450mg magnesium and I am now stabile. So if you do have migraines I take Imitrex for the migraine once a week only as your brain gets used to that fast too. Imitrex or triptans are for knocking out the pain. There are other similar drugs that are better or work somewhat differently depending on how you respond. I hope they figure it out soon. It can be debilitating. Ibuprofen plus tylenol are okay too. The combo helps. Ask your doctor friend about that. That is a good start until you can get diagnosed. Hopefully, nothing worse is going on.

You didn't hit your head on anything right before this started right?

Nope. I did not hit my head on anything. The only thing i remembered was my headaches started in the middle of the night when i tried to sleep but my headaches started to bother me. Subsequently my brain is like kinda wierd, i can say the wrong words without me knowing it or even if i realise. Not really sure about it. Will update soon.
Hum that sounds almost like a seizure. Better see a neurologist. ASAP.
I actually had seizures when i was very young and guess i outgrown it. But will see..recently i noticed my wisdom tooth just came out, so I am guessing it might be a cause of the headaches. It still comes and goes. Will talk with my friend when i see him this week.
Natalie, The head pain could be from the tooth but not the speech problems. Let me know how it goes.

Hi, my friend said it might not be seizures. So I am just guessing its just my tooth and a little lack of sleep. But thanks for your advice though!
I don't think it is just your tooth if you had the speech problems. i would still see a neurologist. The headaches could have been from a tooth if that is all you had. But the speech issue wouldn't be unless it was hurting so much you shouldn't talk. But it sounded involuntary or like you didn't quite have control over it. So saying the wrong words is a sign of a seizure or brain issue. I disagree with your friend even if he is going to med school or is a doctor. I  have been misdiagnosed by  a number of doctors until I saw a good neuro. So I would think about that. I'm not trying to worry you but rather to keep you informed. Keep it in mind if you have any other problems.  If it were me I would get an EEG and perhaps a CT or MRI. If  you have insurance that covers it. If it is negative then you can forget about it. Just some friendly advice from a microbiologist scientist with 20 years experience in the medical/research field and having had migraines etc. So what if it turns out to be nothing that is great.

You may have a type of migraine that they need to treat specially. So I would see your doctor so they can do some tests first then go to a neurologist if that is negative. Maybe they will do an MRI or CT scan and also an EEG. The EEG can tell if you have migraines. If you take Paracetamol (Tylenol) every day it can give you a rebound headache also some foods can give you a head ache if you have migraines and you may be sensitive to them. Try avoiding red wine, MSG (check labels of any food you eat), sharp or cheddar cheese, walnuts are some of the triggers. Try to lower stress. Try Ibuprofen a couple of days and see if that helps (with a full meal). Going off caffiene can trigger one too. But you may have just started to get the migrianes or it could be something else.  Best to check out anything that lasts a long time.
Let me know how it goes. I have migraines and migraines with aura. I have been through it all.
