Post-operative nausea and vomiting

How long does PONV usually last?

I would consult your doctor then. Could be that you have sort of reaction to the drugs or something used.

Thank you. I had surgery over 3 weeks ago and I am still having trouble eating without feeling nauseated and having burning in my stomach. This same thing happened last spring when I had to have my gallbladder removed, at that time it took about 2 weeks to get over. I have had an ultrasound of my stomach done, which was normal and a endoscopy, which was also normal. Just seems kind of odd that I feel worse after both surgeries than berfore. Thanks for your advise.

Depends. For some it only lasts an hour or 2 but for time it lasts till the anaesthetic is completely out of your system which can take up to 48 hours.
