If she's on other types of medication, especially for heart disease or hypertension, those may be causing her insomnia.

Thanks for you answers. She already did blood tests, Glucose, thyroid. All is well . But the only problem she is not being able to sleep without taking pills. She'll try the vinegar with the honey and water. Thanks

Hello. I'm sorry, first of all, that your mom is having the sleeping problems. In the end, that affects every day because without a decent sleep, it is hard to function. I liked the honey and milk and that solution as it sounds nice and natural which I wish everything could be to help all of us with medical issues. However........just in case it does not work........I would suggest that first of all, mom has a COMPLETE workup with blood tests, urine tests, etc. Secondly, I know a few older people that have been taking a safe medication for sleeping called "TRAZADONE." They fall asleep within about 15 minutes to one-half and hour and end up sleeping well throughout the entire night. Those other medications they have like "Boniva" and another beginning with an "A" I have heard people have had very negative results and they can harm you. Anderson Cooper on CNN was even told one night right on TV by CNN's own doctor to be VERY CAREFUL of Boniva or the other one. He was very taken aback! So.........a complete workup by the doctor.......possibly trying  "TRAZADONE" which is gentle and helpful, especially on a low dosage. Nothing to be afraid of. Last suggestion:  Having your mom go to a "Sleep Clinic" at a hospital recommended by her own physician. If your mom is around my age, could she be going through "MENOPAUSE?" Because that, alone, can begin causing a tough time sleeping. I hope I might have helped some. I will say a prayer for her...and YOU, being the sweet, concerned daughter you are!  Take care. Don't worry......things will work out!       Sue

Make your mom take Apple Cider Vinegar with honey, one teaspoon each in a cup of warm water before bedtime. Whenever I have difficulty in falling asleep I drink this concoction and I am fast asleep in less than an hour. I had FEWER disturbance. My problem earlier was to get back to sleep if I am disturbed and that happened frequently. This seemed to work pretty good and I woke up real fresh.

It's worth a try!

You can go for Complete blood count, Diabetic, Thyroid tests, from there you can go with, than sleep study can be done- try to avoid sleeping pills, most of doctors are giving these with depression diagnose, first tests
