Tounge piercing

i got my tongue pierced 4 days ago and my right side is completely numb. Is that from hitting a nerve or is it normal?

hi stevie, although i havnt ever had my tonge peirced...i know several close people that have...my sister being one of them...and i do remember her telling me because i asked her how did it feel..but she said that one side was in fact numb and this was 3days after she had it peicerd....well after a lil over a week i was concerned and i went to where she had it done...i asked the guy if that was normal?...he said it would be for maybe about 2wks  but she should start to have feeling back in about that time fram...well i wanted to make sure because after all this is my sister my best friend...so i went to another shop just to see if i would get the same answer...and the guy did say the same but just a lil different and more to it....he said yes it is normal and some people may even go a whole month but he also said but i would give it only up to 2wks and if shes not feeling just a even the slightest sensation then have her just kinda do a checkup....and said now i did havve a guy bout a year ago workin here and he peirced a girls tonge and 2wks went and she wasnt feelin anything and i looked at it and saw that my former employee did hit a nerve...he said you just have to trust in the person doin it...he told me to bring my sister to him and just let him take a look...so of course i went and dranged her outa bed and she was not happy...but its my sister...i took her up there and he looked at it for a good 7-8 mins and said everything was fine it looked good....he said alot of people have because he said think of it this way...your tonge is how you taste and its only use to that...so now you just let someone basically stab it with a needle....what do you your body would do if you were stabbed?...ITS GOING INTO SHOCK MODE BECUASE ITS NOT USE TO IT....she finally got her feeling back....but i liked how he explainned it in full detail and made it make sence....hopefully it helps you or at least takes the ease off somewhat...best of luck to you!!
