What could cause a bump in the back of your throat that moves?

Yesterday I noticed I had a bump (small and red) that I could feel with my tongue on the right side in the back of my throat. I took a benedryl on the off chance it was a reaction to something and it went away. This morning, I woke up and the same type of bump was in the same spot on the LEFT side of my throat, again, small and red. This time I took a flashlight and it kind of looks like I have white spots in the back of my throat around, but not on, my uvula. Though, I'm not entirely sure whether what I'm seeing is really abnormal since I don't generally check the back of my throat. I haven't taken benedryl today, but over the past hour the bump is going away. What would cause this? When the bump is there, it is kind of painful, but not agonizing.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I have been coughing up a bit of mucus for about 2 weeks. I wrote it off due to cigarette smoking (I just quit today so, while symptoms from that won't vanish immediately, I'm no longer adding to them), but I'm including it in the question as a "just in case it's related" thing.

Thank you for your responses in advance.

It sounds like a sore throat/tonsillitis to me. Have you seen a GP? could be related to seasonal allergy.
