As you have not experienced these symptoms before and they have come on since taking the statin, it is highly likely that this statin does not suit you.
Contact your doctor, pharmacist immediately to whether you should stop taking this medication.
If I had started taking a statin (which I will never do) and got those symptoms, I would stop taking the medication immediately. But this is a decision that you need to make and discuss with your doctor.
Statins can cause a lot of side effects and can cause a lot of irreversible damage. There was a documentary in the UK about the use of statins some years ago that have caused adverse ill health problems for some people.
My next door neighbour experienced a bad reaction to his legs when he was put on statins and had to stop taking the statin. He will not got on an statins now (and I don't blame him). My husband will not take them and I agree with him.
Talk to your doctor about trying to lower your bad cholesterol level by dietary changes and by exercise. My husband's high cholesterol level has improved since he has changed what he eats and goes for fast walks twice a day.
Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg, eat red meats occasionally. Fish and white meats are better. Eat whole fibre products and cut down on your use of butter and marg. Butter is said to be better and olive oil and nuts have the good fats. Our diet does need some fat to help our body function properly.
Cut out (or eat occasionally) all white products and processed and sugary foods, like cakes, biscuits. Eat cheese in moderation. Drink plenty of water, about 2 litres per day, so as not to get dehydrated. Natural yogurt may also be beneficial. Eating eggs will not raise your bad cholesterol.
Being overweight does not mean that that is a cause of high cholesterol. I am very overweight at the moment and my bad cholesterol levels have never been high. I do eat a lot of fresh fruit, salads and vegetables. I do not eat a lot of red meat (but do love beef which we have as a special treat - mainly because beef is more expensive that other meat products).
Best wishes.
It can if you are sensitive to the ingredients, please call and let your doctor and pharmacist know what is happening.
