I was diagnosed with type 1 genital herpes. the bumps and sores have gone away but it still burns like crazy when me and my boyfriend have sex. is there any cooling lube or something i should use to make the sex actually enjoyable?

Could be nerve damage...i have had herpes 3 years and still hurts. Are you on valtrex?
Even though the sores are visible not there doesn't mean that the area in which they were isn't still infected. Have you guys given yourselves long enough time after the sores had gone away to let the area of infection heal all the way? I'm not the most knowledgeable person on the matter because I don't have it but I would think a water based lubricant would make it better due to the friction being the reason why its soo painful and unenjoyable.
