12 weeks, 13 weeks, 90 days, 3 calendar months or what?

The local clinic said 12 weeks. I've read on here (Teak?) 13 weeks, other sources are 3 months, others 90 days.

The BAASH guidelines for the UK say 3 months.
http://www.bashh.org/guidelines/2006/hiv_testing_june06.pdf page 4

So what is 3 months? 3 calendar months, 3 lunar months (12 wks)? Does it matter, is it splitting hairs?

I don't want to mess about maybe taking time out to do two tests in the space of a week, it's hard enough looking for a job as it is.

Observational data are limited 8-14, but in ten years of application of the 'three months rule' by all members of the UK HIV Laboratory Forum no reports of its failure have been received, and thus it is recommended that in general the three month rule continues to be applied 15. IV C Patients may be infectious to others during this period and should be advised of this. In cases where post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is given a 6 month follow-up test is recommended due to the fact that antiretrovirals may reduce replication and prolong antibody response 15.

I think they should state it in days to avoid any confusion. 3 months could mean any number of things it could be 3 x 28, 3x 30, 3 x 31.

Blimey Serg, I'll get the 3 month one over with first ;-)
Garden variety ELISA will do, I'm not paying for it directly though it's paid for off my taxes and national insurance.
Then I'll leave it there at 12 weeks.

Thanks y'all. Just a couple of weeks now.
If they stated it in weeks it would be a bit less confusing.

Well I suppose if the clinic said 12 weeks then that is fine by me but it was the receptionist and not anyone on the medical side. Day 88 it is, a couple of days after the 12 week mark.
