Hello,
I unfortunately had an encounter with a sex worker a few months back in Thailand. I am still living in Thailand at the moment. I am a healthy circumcised male. I have also been travelling around Southeast Asia, possibly exposed to a variety of bacterium and viruses. I need some advice because I have a hard time communicated with the Thai doctors.
Risk: I had protected vaginal sex (for 5 to 10min) followed immediately by unprotected oral sex (20min) and ejaculated in the worker's mouth.
Symptoms: Over the last three months I have been sick twice. First I got what was diagnosed as heat rash 2-3 weeks after exposure, which went away in 3-4 days with some cream, antibiotics, and change in bodywash.
5 weeks after exposure I had night sweats, fever, vomitting, headache, and diahrrea which also went away in about 2 days with antibiotics. About 9 weeks post-exposure I had excessive diahrrea and again fever, night sweats, and a sore neck. The sore neck lasted for about 3-4 weeks.
Testing: 73 days post-exposure I went and got an HIV test. The test was negative and my doctors told me the test was an antibody method using MEIA. It took about 2 hours to receive the results.
Currently I am 4 months post-exposure. My questions are as followed:
1) Was my HIV test similar to an ELISA test?
2) Do I need further testing based on all the above information?
Thank you,
Niceguy
