Heart Problems at age 20?

Hello,
I am a 20yr old athletic male at 6"1 200lbs.
Since new years i have been to the E.R. about 10 times.
I have been having chest pain on my chest for about two weeks or so,
I have had about 5 Ekg's all normal, an echo-cardiogram (with a borderline mitral valve prolapse), and a 24-hr holster with palpitations which are normal said by the doctor. Life has become very difficult to carry out due to my mind constantly checking my heart rate, pulse, and this chest pain. These palpitations I have had are unpredictable I get them when I'm relaxed, walking and standing. Once I feel the skipped beat I panic and get scared, so my heart rate increases as if I were running. Although all my tests have came back normal I am not at ease still. I keep having these recurrent chest pains and palpitations, but the thing is that during the period of the 24hr holster I did not feel any palpitations so my fear is also that the holster did not record any palpitations which I have been feeling. Should I get a second opinion? I really don't know what to do about this chest pain.
Any comments will be appreciated thank you.

Im currently in Mexico and i have had a number of similar tests done like in the states. all have came back normal, tomorrow i have another echocardiogram to look a little closer at my heart, but the cardiologist here believes it will end up being anxiety. if this is anxiety how can i get better?
thanks

On Wednesday my cardiologist said everything came out normal; echocardiogram, 24hr holster, ekg's and blood tests. I am still having chest pain so i will be given a 3 week holster to see what can cause the pains. I will also be on the treadmill on my next visit. Tomorrow im leaving to Mexico and there i will seek a 2nd opinion from a cardiologist.
Thanks to all.

Hello,
Thank you, at this point all my EKG's and echocardiogram are normal. Thyroid normal, blood tests normal. I was doing good for the past week, but today I had palpitations that lasted for more than 20seconds continuously. I am beginning to feel that stress or anxiety might be the reason for these palpitations. Tomorrow I am going to visit my cardiologist, hoping for answers.
Thank you again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Awareness of your heartbeat is termed as palpitation and it can be due to hyperthyroidism( overactive thyroid), arrhythmias (altered electrical system of the heart), certain medications, heart failure, anemia and low blood sugar. It can be aggravated by exercise, fever, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and dehydration. Anxiety, fear or stress can cause palpitations. Have blood tests done to rule out other causes for palpitations. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him next time.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello vienna,
I don't smoke, before all of this i was even scared of drinking energy drinks for the same reason of it leading to heart problems, but i do drink alcohol occasionally on the weekends.
I am a coach, our season ended about two weeks ago that was the last time i had an episode which eventually led me to the E.R. Before all of this i worked out everyday, took 30min jogs but since this all has happened i have left my old ways...
I think coaching is what brought me some stress and i had never felt that before in my life. im usually a person which tries to tough everything out, but i feel as my mentality has weakened. I think you are right though i have to trust the dr's...
thanks :)

hello remar,
Yes during the 24hr holster I didn't feel any of the palpitations that I usually get, but the Dr. said the holster did record palpitations which are normal. When I had the echo cardiogram done the specialist said my heart size was normal except that the lining of my mitral valve was a bit thick on one side. Three weeks later or so I went to the E.R. because of these chest pains and the Dr. there said my heart was enlarged on the left side, so they prescribed me atenolol. Two days later at my teams soccer game where I coach i felt really nervous and i just didnt feel well, my hands were sweating, i threw up about 3 times and i just couldnt cope with being at the game so i had to leave and go to the E.R. again. They took me in and did another EKG standing, sitting and laying down all results were normal. He didnt understand why the previous Dr. had prescribed atenolol so he took me off of it after two days because my holster test was the following week(which was last week). This is why i think i want to get a second opinion.thanks

Do you smoke? Do you drink coffee more then one or two a day?(For some people better to drink only dicaff )Energy drink? Alcohol etc? Do you get enough sleep?  Are you under stress? I don’t think you need a second opinion. You know yourself the best. Do not worry don’t be your own enemy, by worrying :you are. Eat, drink only healthy food, relax, do yoga breathing. Even if you have some palpitations, that not a big deal, learn to live with it. 20% of the people have palpitation, some can feel it some hardly can. TRY TO IGNORE IT. You drive yourself and the emergency people insane.10 TIMES ?? :))

You are OK! Your heart is fine! Believe them! If you relax and do everything right included :DON’T STRESS YOURSELF then you will feel better.

You may want to ask for another 24 hour holster since you had no palps with the first one.You can have mild ones and not even notice them. Did you ask your Dr if the monitor picked up any at all? You are having some very common symptoms of MVP. My daughter and nephew both have it. If it's mild they usually will just monitor it.
