Connection between Nasal Decongestants, arrythmias and Syncope?

Hey Guys, I had posted last week about my recurrent Presyncope/Syncope ( don’t know what the cause is). I have one more question for you 
I have a cold/sore throat for a week now. Took 1 tab of a decongestant similar to Sudafed last evening as I was having chest pain and palpitations all day. After a few hrs while I had been sitting for sometime, felt nausea/thud in the chest and knew I was going to pass out again. Got up to take my heart rate and it was all over the place. I saw 196, 154 and then it settled at 136. After that 136, 126 and 119. Then I slumped to the floor. After 10 min, took my BP ( sitting) for a couple of minutes. Got readings between-   84-96 /53-60    HR - 92-96.
Decided to take my BP standing too…Not a good idea! Because I fainted again!!!!
BP readings I got before I slumped to the floor – 85-94 / 51-56    HR 96-108. Fainted just after BP reading of  69/51 HR 107. It was quick and recovery was quick too. I remember thinking better get to the kitchen fast because there’s no space to lie down here but I didn’t remember  afterwards where I slumped to the floor ….living room or kitchen ( which is unusual because I usually remember) and everything is hazy after that. Couldn’t sleep all night because I have never fainted twice in one day before and this week I have already fainted 3 times. Pretty anxious now!
I remember reading somewhere on this forum that people with arrhythmias should avoid nasal decongestants . The one I took also has phenylephrine like Sudafed and also has chlorpheniramine maleate. I was wondering if there is a connection or this is just a coincidence because I had one tab of this 5 days back too when I had fainted ( had stopped after that until last evening). Thank you!

I would stay away from cold meds if I were you.  They can elevate your heart rate and subsequently cause more bp issues.  Once you have been evaluated then discuss with your doctor whether or not you should take any cold meds moving forward but stay away from them for now though I would definitely alert your doctor to what you have experienced.  It may give him some clues.  Take care.
