if you look at the website it does not say the dosage that caused these deaths. Just about any drug could potentially cause death if taken in excess. Inderal is one the oldest, safest beta blockers out there. It has been very well studied. I am sure that if your doctor prescribed it for hypertension you need it and should not be concerned about it causing bradycardia or hypotension. They usually start you at a low dose and increase as needed. 40mg is a very low dose. Share your concerns with your doctor. Try not to worry and please do not stop the med cold turkey, this can cause more harm. Good luck
Okay well now on a positive note............inderal is one of the big guns of beta blockers and one of the best out there. So if you are having a blood pressure problem this should take care of it. You definately need to stay off of sites that give you the worst possible scenario of incidents...why do that to yourself. Trust me inderal would not be available if it hurt people. It has to go thru on an average of 7 years of clinical trials before its okayed for us. In the beginning i was on inderal for a heart problem and then changed meds only because my heart changed. You are dealing with a blood pressure problem so you should stay on this site BUT on the blood pressure forum not heart rythm forum unless you are having heart problems because there is a huge difference between heart problems and blood pressure problems. Inderal is a good med and your doc wouldn't have given it to you unless they know your medical history and deemed it okay for you to take believe me. And grendslori is very right...you cannot stop taking any med unless the doc okays it because you could have what is called rebound where your body reacts to no longer being on the med and the symptoms come back X2...call your doc...tell them what you are scared of....there are millions and millions of people out there on inderal and altho i will not watch whatever video link that was that you saw...remember whoever had the problem is 100% different than you are and may have had alot of other issues with their medical history so you cannot go by whatever the video was. Just call the doc if you are scared...inderal for all intents and purposes is a good medication you need to give your body about a week to adjust to it....look for the blood pressure website on this link.......................................good luck
You can not stop any heart medication suddenly. I didn't read the article, but with death being mentioned, I thought I would add that on here. I took Inderal for the better part of 10 years and had to stop it because I was hallucinating on the drug.
I think, that it caused death, by lowering the heart rate to much?
I am pretty scared now, i only just started taking it just yesterday, i not taking any more till i know the facts!!
Best advice I can give you is follow your doctor's advice and watch, with somehow going symptomatic because you know the side effect symptoms, for the side effects and warnings. If any of the warning signs come up call your doctor, otherwise tough it out. Most of us adjust to beta blocker type medications and the dizziness and fatigue side effect become milder... even go away if we're lucky.
