I had just turned on my sprinkler in the front yard and two or three weeks ago I was driving my car.
Here's another question to the OP:
Who was taking your BP during this period? If you were using a home cuff, they are very unreliable if your hear rate is elevated, and will give varying results. I know becasue I've tried it.
When I have an afib (irregular) episode my heart rate can range from 130 to 180 resting due to a rapid ventricular response. I have been in it for several days at a time and the rate goes up and down depending on what I'm doing. I don't think it is especially good for you, but it usually takes at least 24 hours to arrange a cardioversion and there's not much to do in the meantime. Not sure if atrial fibrillation is your problem. I was told to go to the ER if I was sweating or dizzy. The erratic bp is worrisome. I would advise contacting your doctor and asking for an explanation and perhaps testing to find out what was going on. Do you have a diagnosis? Many things can cause a rapid heartbeat. Good luck with this.
Heart rate and erratic blood pressure during this is very dangerous it can cause heart attack, stroke and could lead to death. It is hard on all vital organs.
That depends.....
If you were having an episode of SVT the answer would be that for a reasonably healthy individual the danger is minimal. I had lots of that for almost my entire life. As you age though, the danger increases again depending on how healthy your heart is.
Do you know why your heart was racing for that period of time? Can you give us some detail?
