Any new drugs out that work?

I have suffered from migraines for 22 years. I have tried every drug there is. I use imitrex and that seems to help get rid of them sometimes. I have been to Mayos Clinic, allergy clinics, had a hysterectomy, and to a Univ. Hospital. I am at the end of the line. I am getting 2 to 3 a week. The last drug I tried, Verampamil, is what the Mayos Dr. suggested. I did find out I had sleep apnea so now I don't wake up with a migraine. I'm getting older and I'm getting tired of the pain. What else is there to try?

22 years is a long time and you have tried all you know about. This is an alternative approach- pranayam, which helps the body to heal the underlying problem, so you will start to feel the benefits after a few weeks.Continue the exercises(pranayam) once a day after the migraine has disappeared.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.
Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 15 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom -  Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep breaths into the lungs.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 15 times

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

There are some studies that show an association between headaches and persons who have sleep apnea. Is your sleep apnea being managed?

With regards to your condition, have you been thoroughly assessed with your headaches and were all other conditions ruled out?

A cervical spine disorder, hormonal imbalance, eye and ear problems, sinus problems brought about by allergies, musculoskeletal or arthritic problems caused by poor bodily positions may cause headaches. Treatment of the underlying cause will help resolve the problem.

Do you have any hypertension or diabetes?

Your physician has been using preventive migraine therapy to treat you. You may discuss with your doctor the advantages of nerve blocks. Also a referral to an alternative medicine specialist may be able to help. As acupuncture and certain relaxation techniques may be used to supplement your medical therapy.

I know what it is like, imitrex only worked on me if I took it within a few minutes of onset, any thing after that was useless!! then my Dr put me on fioricet and I think it works better than all the other ones I have tryed, plus unlike IMITREX ,ZOMIG and MAXXOLT you can take it up to 6 times per day! Also my Aunt has terrible migraines all the time she was taking all the imitrex she could get was put on a muscle relaxer called soma , and her headaches are much easier to deal with!!

GOOD LUCK! HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!
