Cluster headaches

For the past 3-4 years I've been getting Cluster headaches. They are very painful but only last about 2-3 sec each time. my eyes go blurry and I go dizzy. I never take any pain killers as by the time I get the packet they have gone. My GP have given me tablets that I need to take at night but they do notheing. When ever I go back to the doctor they say take pain killers and that it. has anyone else suffered form this?

Thanks I may try the water and more exercise. I was in the army four years ago and was forever drinking water and doing fitness. It only started when I left. I see how the next month goes.
Thanks

Hi,

Pain killers play a very limited role in management of cluster headaches unlike in other headaches. Other treatment options which are known to work in cluster headaches include oxygen therapy, botox injections and triptan injections.
However because cluster headaches last for very short periods in your case, I would suggest you to try non pharmacological therapies like a cup of strong coffee, ice, hot showers, spraying lukewarm water on the face, drinking large amounts of water and physical exercise which increases the level of oxygen in the body.

Hope this helps!
