Recently been suffering with headaches for the last 5 days ,had ear syringed about a month ago and later treated for an ear infection. The headache has been intense and localised in the R temporal area, odd sensation ,tingling on the face -has CT scan yesterday which was normal but have raised plateletts of 700 and raised white cell count ,no diagnosis has been given except that something is going on and to return to hospital if things do not improve

I was in South Africa for three weeks . I had 4 doctors looking into my ear yesterday and was told no signs of infection, yes it was the R) ear that was syringed by the practice nurse.Had Cephalexin ,metronidazole on first week and Augumentin and Ciprobay ear drops. The Augumentin I spopped on day 5 as I started having diarhoea which stopped following the top of the antibiotics

Hi.

As with the raised platelets , have you been dehydrated lately?

The increase in WBC levels may be associated with the infection. Was the affected ear,the right ear?

If the headaches are recent symptoms then this may still be associated with the ear infection. Persistence of an infection may require further management. Have you been taking medications for the ear infection? Have you completed the course of your medications?

Do have a follow up consult with your physician. Recent onset of headaches and elevated WBC levels may suggest that an infection is still present.

Drink plenty of water and eat well. Stay in places that are well ventilated.Do keep us posted with regards to your progress.
