Migraines, Numbness, Speech impairments

Hello-

My girlfriend is experiencing numbness in her hands, arms, and face. The numbness is gradual. She has also experienced instances where she cannot read or spell or remember words. Last night she had experienced a migraine and she had been throwing up as well. During this migraine, she had another instance where she could not read words or remember how to spell or say them coupled with a bout of light dizziness.

Some other information that I find should not be ignored is that she tends to feel older than she is sometimes, and doesn't seem to want to be active. She complains about your joints and her back and her tense muscle more than I often times feel someone at her age should. She is about 5 foot tall, she weighs no more than 110lbs. She is 22 years old, and has been using the Nuva Ring for birth control.

Right now we don't have insurance and we are wondering how serious we should be taking her symptoms.

Thank you for the response!

We do not believe that she has any sinus or eye problems, but I suppose as you say we must get her exams to rule out those possibilities. As for her activities, she is actually pretty inactive, especially as of late, complaining that she feels old, and low-energy. She has recently graduated from undergraduate school, and has had not very many stresses or activities as of yet which is concerning me.

So, you would recommend a cranial scan and a complete neurological and mental status examination?

Hi,

Based on your post, an underlying physical or organic cause for your girlfriend's symptoms have to determined first. A baseline cranial scan and a complete neurological and mental status examination are important.

This may be a case of migraine .However, other tests have to be done to rule out other conditions like eye and sinus problems. Does she have any of these?

Is your girlfriend engaged in any strenuous sports or activities which could explain the muscle aches?
