There is actually a type of migraine called abdominal migraines where the sufferer will feel the same symptoms as a head migraine, just in their abdomen. I read about it in my migraine handbook. Does he also suffer head pain and aura? If so, a natural way to block them is for him to take 500mg of magnesium daily. 250mg in the morning and 250mg in the evenings. You can get it at any drug store or walmart. My nurse practitioner told me to do this and I am mostly headache free. I used to suffer several times a month and now I get a few a year if I am under too much stress or accidently eat a trigger food. Other than that, it is wonderful for me! Give it two weeks to notice a huge difference. Hope this helps.
Hi,
My daughters and myself all experieince the same thing. I have since I was 10 years old. We all have had the gamut of tests as well. Each of us take daily meds as well as migrain meds when a migrain brakes through. Some neurologists will prescribe beta blockers daily, others prescribe Topomax etc daily. Is your son on any daily meds for this? Has he been prescirbed any thing for when comes on such as Imitrex or Relpax ?
Of course, as I would imagine you have been told, avoiding caffein, dairy, and MSG are a must. You may want to try and avoid as much dye as possible found in foods. My daughters and I cannot have anything with FD & C Yellow #5 , 6, and 10. Start experimenting w/different food and dyes.
