Question about different types of headaches

My question is in regards to a migraine that I had on Thursday.  I had started with it in the morning, I went to a meeting at my daughters school, came home and slept it off.  When I woke up I felt okay, just had the after effects of the headache.  I was fine for a couple of hours and I got another migraine, it started in the right eye and then the left side of my head hurt.  I took a pain pill and laid back down, the only major difference with this one was I had slurred speech as I was talking to people.  It was like I had been drinking and the pain pill was only tylenol with codone,  I had taken them before and my friend thought it sounded as if I was having a stroke.  Why did my speech get slurred?  I also have a history of brain cancer in my family, and was wondering what are the major symptoms of a brain tumor, I have been dizzy since Friday, I went to the dr and he gave me antibiotics for a sinus infection but I have, nausea, dizziness, numbness and tingling in my temples, and my head, sometimes my face and right fingers.  I guess I am just a little concerned about this.  I also have been breaking out in sweats, and I don't have a fever.  My palms get really sweaty and then I get cold again.  I still have a slight headache.  Just curious about what other people may think this is.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, thanks for the advice.  I have never had a migraine where my speech was slurred.  This is a brand new symptom with my headache, I have been getting migraines since I am 15 years old.  Each one I get always gets worse with the pain.  The slurring lasted until I stopped talking and fell asleep and didn't really talk to anyone the rest of the night.  When I woke up in the morning, I was fine with just the leftovers of a migraine.  I never had ringing in the ears yet, I just get the numbness and tingling, but this headache just seemed alot worse and very different and now the entire left side of my head is in pain.

Hi.

I understand your concern. Migraine headaches may present in a variety of ways. There are complex presentations of migraine headaches and this may include associated symptoms of slurring of speech, weakness of the extremities, ringing in the ears and loss of balance. This will make it difficult to differentiate benign migraine headaches from cerebrovascular diseases like transient ischemic attack and a stroke. In your case, I would suggest a consult with a neurologist for a complete physical and neurologic examination. A baseline cranial CT scan and some blood tests to evaluate bleeding and coagulation parameters are necessary.

Have you had similar episodes before?

For how long did the slurring of speech last?
