Head pressure/wooziness/hard to focus

Head problem:
I was wondering if you could help me with something? I basically haven't been feeling well for the last 3 weeks and it doesn't seem to be going away. As I don't have insurance except the ER, I am going to have to just pay out of pocket to see a doctor so I want make sure I go to the right one. Based upon my description below, point me toward the right specialist.

Ok so here are my symptoms: About 3.5 weeks ago I had 3 intense 20 sec headaches on my right temple ever other day. But the third one was very intense and I began to feel like I was passing out. But I didn't. I was then really dizzy/woozy the rest of the day so much that I had to leave work. It wasn't vertigo dizziness, I still had my balance, it was in my head.

For the next week I had dizzy, pressure feeling all in the front part of my head but no more headaches. After a week of it not going away I went to the ER (I am only covered for Emergency treatment). There they did a CT without contrast and said it was negative. Also, it wasn't dehydration either. The blood work didn't show anything but they didn't do a full CBC I don't think.

Anyway I have also been to a primary care doctor, one week ago, who tried a nasal spray for sinus issues as she saw some pressure/bulging behind my ear. This didn't help. Now I am on Erythromycin (2 days so far) and no change either yet. I have 3 days left.

It has been three weeks of this. It seems to be getting a little better slowly but it comes and goes. I felt great last night completely asymptomatic, but today at work it is back? It feels like there is lots of pressure in the front of my head, sore and slightly painful at times but mostly like that feeling when you get up too quickly and all the blood rushes to/from your head. It is very hard to focus and it feels very spacey when it happens. Although it feels "dizzy", my balance is still intact. It is kinda like that feeling you get right before you pass out. Also feels like an intense version of putting on someone else's glasses that are too strong. But my contacts haven't changed for 3 years and I just had an eye exam.

I also had my right wisdom teeth taken out 6 months ago and it was a real mess. I still have pain/soreness at the spot and was worried it could have allowed bacteria into the sinuses or created complications from tmj? But I don't have pain at all from eating.

So, I don't know if I should see an Oral Surgeon, ENT, Migraine doctor, Neurologist, Chiropractor, Shaman? I can't afford to see all of them so I was hoping you could give me some advice.

Thanks,
Andrew

How are you doing now?  My Chronic Fatigue Syndrome started that way - intense wooziness, pressure between my eyes, etc. Your descriptions are excellent and they match mine to the T.

When you had your wisdom teeth taken out - did the doctors fiddle with any amalgam(metal) fillings? My symptoms started one month after some poor dental work.

Hope you're doing better these days.

A headache specialist is very difficult to find and get in to see them.  I would also think that a neurologist would be best since you are having other neurological symptoms as well as the head pain.  It's good that you have tried the medication for a sinus infection as your symptoms do seem similar to a sinus infection. The CT scan coming out normal is good because it means that you don't have a brain tumor or multiple sclerosis.  My CT scan when I had an ungodly migraine showed a sinus infection which apparently yours did not, so I would not see an ENT doctor. You do still have a problem and a neurologist may be able to give you some medication to help it or some other treatment.  Good luck.

Also when I had my migraines, an ENT surgeon recommmended surgery.   A second opinion from another ENT surgeon said no and she was right according to my pulmonologist and 2 neurologists. Also my husband had the same experience of getting a second opinion that said no to his surgery and instead gave him medication which cleared up his respiratory symptoms.  So I would be leery of a recommendation for surgery.

Try to get insurance if you can because you never know when a serious illness can happen which will cause bankruptcy and then you only get the medical care that you can afford.

I have spent time trying to help you and would appreciate you informing me about your progress or reactions to my posting.  I am just about to stop helping people because I rarely get any responses.
