I have frequent migranes and lots of times are with my sinus pain. I take imitrex 6 mg shots for the migranes, but sometimes get so bad i throw up and need to go to the hospital where they give me an IV with toradol, phenergan, and
dilaudid. I am currently taking, nexuim(their brand), elavil, topamax, flonase, and mobic. Anything I can do to prevent sinuses or what i can do to stop the pain.  I've tried heat soaks, steam, over the counter meds(tylenol sinus, advil sinus, etc.) Any ideas.

I'm 4 months pregnant and had a sinus infection and coughing almost 3 weeks ago.  I've taken antibiotic for it and finished it according to the doctors recommendation.  But it's been almost 2 weeks that I've finished my antibiotic and now my sinus infection had come back!!

Anyone knows if this sinuswars.com works and how safe if it is?
Also, I'm taking any recommendations.

Thank you.

A lot of times... if you get migraines with associated sinus pain, that associated sinus pain isn't really sinus pain at all, it's migraine pain, it's part of the migraine headache. It's why taking all the regular sinus stuff doesn't work for it.

So many people have been misdiagnosed throughout the years as having sinus headaches when in reality they have migraines.

Sinus pain can be just as part of the migraine as any of the other migraine symptoms like pain behind one eye, nausea, an aura, sensitivity to light/sound. And having a "runny nose" or "watery eyes" or "red eyes" during a migraine (signs people often think of as allergies or sinus stuff) is very common.

My suggestion would be to try treating the headache like a normal migraine as opposed to a normal sinus headache... so, instead of applying heat or steam to your head, apply an icepack (with a cloth around it of course)  to where it hurts (for the majority of people, heat on the head irritates the heck out of a migraine, whereas cold relives pain). Use the migraine meds instead of the sinus meds when you feel any "sinus" pain as it could be the first signs of a migraine attack.

Of course, it's just a suggestion... if it doesn't work or makes the pain worse then you'll know that it really must be traditionally sinus pain accompanying your migraine.

P.S. if you do try the icepack on head instead of hot + steam on head... make sure to keep your feet/legs and hands/arms warm. you can even sit in a nice warm bath if you find this feels good... or you can just bundle up with lots of covers if this feels better. but, the whole idea is to draw blood away from your head... if your extremities and core body temp gets cold, this won't work. so make sure that you're just making your head cold! as lovely as it can feel when you're having a migraine to open the freezer and sit in front of it until your shivering or go outside at night in your pajamas... this is the wrong thing to do and obviously dangerous (hehe, i am poking fun at myself here... yes, i have a tendency to act totally irrational when i have 10/10 migraines and i have done stupid stuff like gone and sat in the snow in my pjs), it's better to just use an icepack or cold clothes on your head and neck only.

I have the exact same thing happening to me and I take relpax for my migraines and I am in pain at least every other week and it is crazy!  I hate it!  I found this because I too was searching for answers.  I suggest you try each suggestion until you find one that works for you.  The suggestions include:

hot shower, steam from boiling water, over the counter decongestion, wet warm towel over the head, humidifer, lots of water, leave window cracked in winter, clear dust, drink hot tea.  I am pretty sure there are more but try those.  Let me know how they go as I am struggling with the same thing.

Hi,

It is important to determine the cause of these frequent attacks of sinusitis. Is it due to allergies or nasal polyps, overusage of nasal steroids and inflammation of nasal membrane?
It is important to know if you are using flonase on a regular basis. Flonase is a nasal steroid and should not be used regularly as it is a predisposing factor for sinusitis.
If allergies are the likely cause it is important to get an allergy test done to find out the potential allergens and then avoiding them.
The link below will provide more information on how to prevent sinus infections.

Hope this helps!
