Ovarian cyst problems

I have a 2 inch cyst on my left ovary. I was having severe pain and a lot of blood loss and went to the ER and that is when they told me about the cyst. My mom was scared that it ruptered or something was wrong. They gave me ibuprofen and told me that it should take the pain away. The sonogram that I had was a week before all of this started happening and now the ibuprofen is starting not to work as well. Should I be worried about this?

My gyn is a complete idiot. Before he found out I had a cyst he said that pain and bleeding is sometimes normal. Apparently he was wrong. Thanks people. :)

TrudieC is right about the pain meds and going back to the ER if the pain dramatically increases. You should also get into your OB/GYN ASAP. If your ob/gyn is like mine you assert yourself and tell them you need to be seen ASAP. Tell them you've already been to the ER due to this don't let them make you wait. Good Luck.

I found that the pain from my cyst increased over time.  However, if it dramatically increases you should head to the ER in case of twisting or rupturing.  It is important to take your meds before you need them so you stay on top of the pain.  If the ibuprofen doesn't work in this manner do ask your doctor for something that may help better.  Keep your doctor abreast of your pain levels as he may choose not to wait and see if the pain increases.  You can also try soaking in a warm bath or putting a heating pad on your abdomen.  And try not to wear tight clothing.  I hope you find some comfort soon.
