Doctor appointment today, Wish me luck

I have an appointment with my gynecologist today to decide if I indeed have a cyst or if it is scar tissue causing all of my problems.  About a week and a half ago I went to my PCP because of severe abdominal pain.  The nurse practitioner did an exam and said she felt a "rather large ovarian cyst" and sent me to have a CAT scan done.  Much to all of our surprise, the results came back that I did not have a cyst that they could see.  When I talked to the nurse about this, she told me that the nurse practitioner told her that she was 100% certain that she felt a cyst.  We are thinking that the cyst did not show up on the CAT scan because it is encased in scar tissue.  I am praying that my gyn will agree to do surgery to clean out the scar tissue and cyst if it is there.  I know she will do an exam today and I hope she is able to feel it too.  I am praying that if she will do surgery that she can do it next week.  Has anyone else had any similar situations?

Why does the docto want you to go on Depo, just as birth contol?  I was on depo as a method of birth control for several years.  I would caution people against it if they want to have the option to get pregnant quickly when stopping depo.   I switched from depo to an IUD (not the hormone one). I didn't get a period back for over a year and it was spotty at best afte rthat for about another year.  I will say I had very few side effects with depo other than the period cession.  I would just hate for someone who wants the option to stop the method and get pregnant to be a slave to the residual hormonal effect.

Just my two cents...

I forgot to add that I did not get back to you all this weekend because my 5 month old niece was admitted to the hospital due to not eating.  I spent Friday night with my sister at the hospital and when I got home on Saturday, hubby took me out for a nice dinner.  Sunday was crazy because we had so much going on.  I didn't want you all to think that I just forgot about you.  I just had a lot going on this weekend :-)

HI everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to update you on what is going on.  I went to see the gyn on Friday, and she spent an hour with me.  She did an exam and spent a good deal of time reviewing my CAT scan films.  She said that there is a ton of scar tissue on my bowls and she said there was no cyst.  She also said that she believes my pain is coming from having a severe reaction to my diabetic medicine (Metformin).  She is going to have my pcp change my meds.  IF this does not work, then she wants me to see a general surgeon.  I am willing to try about anything because I am so sick of the pain.  I am not 100% convinced this is what is going on.  I do have an appointment with another gyn for March 5th.  I don't think it is a bad idea to get another opinion.  The gyn did say that she believes I have a functioning ovary (I am not supposed to have any!) but it is not causing the pain now.  SHe wants me to do the Depo Vera shot.  Has anyone done this?  What were  your side effects from this? She also suggested Lupron shots, but that is out of the question.  I will never do those shots.  So more or less, she has no clue what is going on either.  I guess I will see what the other gyn says too.
