Oops...I missed the fact you said you were told to follow-up in a month.  That should be fine.  If you get increased pain or new symptoms, be sure to call your doctor's office to let them know.

Your cyst definitely needs to be watched.  What did your doctor say about follow-up?  Usually, they will closely monitor a complex cyst under 5cm to see if it resolving on its own.  Have you had a MRI or CT?  These tests are better at showing the contents of the cyst and can see the entire pelvis.  Sometimes, doctors choose to remove cysts under 5cm if they are causing bothersome symptoms, but usually they watch and wait.  All the symptoms you describe are common with ovarian cysts.  Talk to your doctor about how he plans to monitor the cyst or if he thinks it should be removed.  Try not to worry.  Most complex cysts turn out to be benign. But, because any complex mass has a slight chance of being malignant,  you must be sure to keep a watch on it.  Best wishes.

The reson they want you to wait a month to follow up is to see if the cyst goes away.  Sometimes the cyst will appear to be fluid filled or may contain some blood.  These cysts may be simple cysts that will just disappear on thier own.  If it is still there or has gotten bigger then they will take a closer look.  If you have severe pain you should see your doctor and tell them what is going on.  If not, try not to worry too much until you go for your follow up appointment.  Your cyst may be gone!
