My latest ultrasound found complex hemorraghic cysts on left ovary measuring 3.2X2.3X2.8cm. Also found "new small echogenic focus within the left ovary measuring 0.7X0.6X0.4cm. This does not represent fast as there was no fat in this region on the prior CT. This most likely represents a hemorrhagic cyst." Also, found simple folliular cyst 1.1X0.8X1.0cm on right ovary. Uterus measurements were normal. Endometrium measurement 3mm. This ultrasound was done on 2 day of my period.
This follow up ultrasound was done 8 weeks after visit to ER w/severe abdominal pain. I have ultrasound and CT at hospital. Found the complex cysts there and free floating fluid in abdomen. Probably had cyst burst that day. It was around time of ovulation in my cycle.
Had been having abdominal pain about 1 time a month for 5 months before ER visit.
My concerns are:
1. History of ovarian cancer in my family. Paternal grandmother died from it.
2. Cysts are on my left, but I have constant dull pain on right side. Especially during menstrual cycle, painful bowel movements, pain when sitting, and dull ached often from ovulation through menstrual cycle.
3. What happens if I ignore the hemorraghic cysts?
4. Does the ovary need to be removed?
5. What type of doctor should do the surgery? An OB, an OB/fertility specialist?
6. I am not confident in my OB so I have been going to my general doctor. Really want to find someone who I can feel confident with and who communicates well. Any suggestions?
