In my case, I've only met my PM 2 times. After that, I've seen the NP. the Doc makes me nervous, but the NP is awesome. I agree many doctors have a god complex. so what did this doctor say about your problems? Also, better to not ask about disability right away, it may scare docs off. Keep that with your primary doctor for now. Just my opinion. I read online somewhere a list of things NOT to so or say when meeting a PM for the first time. Its strange but it made a lot of sense. I'll try to find the link later. If i don't get to it, I'll be back on, on Tuesday.
Also, there are still many more PM's in that area so don't give up Corey. OK.
You didn't sound "flippant" trixy71, don't sweat it!
I understand the frustration completely. Were you referred to this particular doctor? If you were, perhaps they can refer you somewhere else. Just explain the problems you had with the pain specialist they first sent you to. I do think most places require a referral in order to be seen and treated. I wait three to four hours for my pain specialist every month. It's ridiculous but I have to say he is a good doctor as far as experience, listening, and treating my pain. It sort of makes it worth the wait. i wonder what would happen if i showed up three or four hours late for my appointment? Anyway, just keep on looking for a doctor that you like. It might take some time, but they are out there. Good luck.

Well I went to my appt with new pain doc so was awful rude and nasty. If anyone knows of a good doc Toledo area or even Michigan i would appericate it.I dont understand why some doctors act as if they have the right to treat there paitents like crap.We are the ones paying there house notes and car payments.I wish I wasnt in cronic pain and needed a pain doctor,if I have togo to the doctors once a month I want to feel comfortable with the doctor, and not feel I am inconveniencing the doctor by askind questioning concerning my treement.
Good luck, let us know how your appointment goes.
Thank my family doc refrred me to a new pain doc hopefully he is good.Im in process of trying to get ssi so i hope the doc agrees that Im unable to work.
I probably should have added, when I said about the yellow pages, is to pick one CLOSE to you to start with, I hope I didn't sound flippant with my reply, I wasn't trying to be but I realized I may have when I went back and re-read what I wrote. Let us know how it goes.
You're Dr's office staff should have a referral for you, or even a covering doctor that you should be able to see. Every hospital in that area has a pain clinic, so basically just get the yellow pages and pick one. Good luck to you.
