Possible NGU
I had unprotected sex on June the 16th. With a girl. She said she did not have any stds. I started noticing symptoms of frequent urniation slight burning. So I went and got tested on the 22nd. Full screen it came back negative for everything. The doctor said I had NGU and put me on doxy. I've been taking it and feel a little bit better not urniating as much but still frequent. They did both types of herpes testing. Both where negative. Would it have shown up that soon? Or do I have it and not know. How long will ngu clear up? And should I get retested even thought the dr said it would have shown up with my symptoms I was having. Thank you just really scared and nervous. My patterner had sex with me the day after encounter and she has no symptoms at all. Am I okay? Thank you
Will do my eye doctors appt is not till November 1st. I'm still waiting my test results from my regular doctor he did a lot of tests for parasites and htlv as I'm having a lot of symptoms. The biggest thing right now is brain fog and fatigue as well as muscle spasms. They are not as frequent or as bad as they where three or so months ago. I just hope my body heals. I don't know what this is. But it's really scary. Please anyone out there planning on having un protected sex with someone you don't know their history or their previous partners history don't do it. It's not worth it. I wish I could go back and not do it. I had so much more positive things in my life that I should have focused on. It's so hard to live with this. Constant fatigue and brain fog. I'm half the person I used to be. It's hard to do everything now. And I get so tired. I really feel like I'm dying or am already dead if that makes any sence. There is a constant ring in my ears and when my muscles spasm at night I can't sleep. I really hope no one else has to go through this and I know I could never do this to anyone. I really wished that girl would have told me she was sick but it's possible she did not know I guess. I will update with results soon. Please send Prayers for healing of my mind and body. I'm praying for everyone suffering right now too.

When the doctor diagnosed you with NGU, did your urine or swab actually show signs of an infection? Or was it just an assumption?
I would go to a lab like LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics and have them do a first void urine test for m. genitalium and trichomonas vaginalis. These labs will use a NAAT test which are more sensitive than just looking at your urine/swab under a microscope. You can also have them test for ureaplasma urealyticum, but there is debate about weather this should be treated as it is found in something like 80% of sexually active people.
Doxy will only treat M. genitalium in 30 - 40% of cases, but at least it will not create resistance, it is actually good they tried this first. The next course of action would be 1.5 g azithromycin if your tests turn up positive. Don't take this without a positive test as it can create resistant strands.

Got a call from doctor this morning all test where normal. this is good news and bad as I'm still feeling very weak and fatigued still have all symptoms I've started with. I'm so lost I don't know what this is. I'm trying to go a natural route. With some supplements and eating better. Please pray. I'm praying I get better but this may just be life now. Has anyone gotten better from the unknown virus on the forums on here? I see they are old posts and I've tried to message the people but I get no answeres hopefully they are still alive and will respond soon. If anyone else is sick with an unknown std type illiness please feel free to message me. Thank you all and I will keep updating. I still have appointment with eye doctor soon. To see what's wrong there. Will keep updating.

Posting an update still sick getting energy back slowly saw my regular doctor. Doing a bunch of test including for parasites. And going to see eye doctor as he suggested that something was wrong with my eyes as they are spazzing when he applied light to them. Will keep posted apon results.
I too had days where I thought I'd never be the same again. All my tests came back negative after being treated for NGU, prostatitis, and balantis. I later had painful bowel movements (burning) that my doctor dismissed. I made so many lifestyle changes I couldn't identify if it was some kind of std missed or something unrelated. Yes I tested for Epstein-Barr and mono everything came back negative I've never had diabetes was the first thing they checked and it was negative as well as thyroid function all normal. It's the worst thing to have something and it not showing on any test. This is defiantly not fun. I feel like I'm a prisoner in my own body.
Yes had all test done at quest and lab corp for all bacteria in urine all came back negative. All blood work is normal too. And have been treated for anxiety. Dr said I don't show any signs of mental health issues. My symptoms. Dry tongue, whole body muscle spasms. Fatigue frequent urniation. Brain fog lightheadness weak legs. Burning sensation that comes and goes. Unrestful sleep just a couple of hours a night. Really soft stools. I've been tested for Lyme and parasites as well all negative. Dr did proscribe me Zoloft to see if it helped. But it made things worse I quit taking it. I've had these symptoms since June. I'm learning to live with this it hasn't been easy but I'm hoping it's some virus that I contracted that will eventually clear on its own. I'm praying. It may be a new retro virus. I run a low grade temp 99.8 most days. I see spots floaters flashes of light. I had an MRI done all showed normal. Still waiting to see eye dr. As my regular doctor noticed my eyes spasm when light is applied to them. Just hoping to get back on my feet again. I've lost almost everything and have had to move in with my mom and get part time work to make ends meet.

Hmm...have you considered the possibility of Ebstein-Barr virus and your immune system is have a difficult time clearing it?

still feeling very sick no energy at all my blood test show slightly high atl and high hemoglobin. Not sure what's going on. I have a lot of pain in my spine and have been getting chills and weaking of the legs. I'm shaky when I walk to the bathroom. Going to get blood work done again on Friday hopefully they will find out what's wrong. What tests should I ask for to cover all my symptoms?
Ngu can be caused by many different strains of bacteria, if they can't culture the bacteria to test resistance it's a shot in the dark as to which antibiotic will be effective. Levaquin is one of the more wide spectrum antibiotics. So if you are still having issues I'd see if the doctor would be willing to treat you with it.

Joe did this make you extremely tired at all like a brain fog? And did you ever have like a ring in your ears or dry mouth? I know antibiotic use can cause the symptoms sometimes
No I never had any of those symptoms
So I got all my test results back this is 75 days post and counter everything came back negative am i OK to believe this test to say that I didn't catch anything or do I need to retest again later if I'm still having symptoms? Is herpes pretty much conclusive after 12 week test or is it longer to develop antibodies? I know everybody's different with there immune system's but if my NGU was caused by herpes would it show on this blood test at 75 days post exposure?
If you didn't develop herpes lesions by 20 days after exposure then I'm very confident you don't have herpes. Antibodies are present 4-6 weeks so I'd consider it conclusive
Ngu can take weeks to months to cure. It took me two months to clear mine( it moved to my prostate) and then I got balantis from the antibiotics

Joe did it eventually clear up? How are you now? This is making me extremely fatigued I have no energy accept to get up and go to the bathroom. : / really hoping I get better. What do you do for the Balantis? Thank you
Yes it cleared up after taking leviquin 750mg for 10 days. The balantis I used nystatin cream. I still have a slight tingle when I pee but I'm leaning towards it being from my blood pressure meds
