i did the salt-and-ice burn thing
stupid, i know... but it became swollen and red and now the skin on it has begun to peel a little. i've put some gauze on there and kept it clean- is there anything else i can/should do? thank you

Yea, that's typical of that type of burn.. I wouldn't recommend doing it again. You can destroy a lot of skin cells and cause multiple problems, maybe infections, etc. The only thing to do is keep it clean, don't peel the skin, and put a neosporin type ointment on it to help it heal.
where you pour salt on your skin and hold ice on top until the ice melts; it's just frostbite, really
