Can this really happen?

I'm a 20 year-old female.  I recently went to a urologist and he thinks that I have like an after-effect of a recent UTI (which my gynecologist found back in September).  My only symptom is dysuria.  That's all I have...no frequency, urgency, nocturia, back pain, pelvic pain, and it doesn't hurt when I hold it, etc.  I was prescribed prosed DS but it's not doing too well of a job.  I've been advised to not drink or eat anything acidic.  It doesn't really hurt when I go, but during it feels kind of irritating, but then it quickly goes away.  I've heard that prosed can cause this, but not quite sure.  I just want this all GONE and get back to the way my life used to be...WITHOUT this stupid, irritating pain.  It's really pissing me off (no pun intended).  I'm trying to wonder what else I could do to get rid of this pain.  It's so annoying and stressful.  To top it all off, I have an anxiety disorder which makes my stress much worse.  Help?

Actually, I don't have an infection, but he said it was caused by the one that I had.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Prosed DS is used for treating painful irritating symptoms of the urinary tract infections or diagnostic procedures. It is an antiseptic, analgesic, anticholinergic and urinary acidifier. It helps in killing bacteria in the urine, decreases inflammation and pain in the urinary tract and reducing muscle spasms in the urinary tract.

There are certain medications and conditions where you should not be taking prosed DS like allergies. Myasthenia gravis, chickenpox,if taking sulphonamides, if allergic to NSAID’s etc.
Check with your doctor regarding the contraindications for this medicine.

Also repeat a urine culture to determine what organism is causing infection. Also I would advise to take citrus fruits and Vitamin C supplements in diet.
Take care.
