I can understand the concern for your son's development. The penis of a child needs several things to grow to normal size. One of these is erections that occur breifly. These  are simply safe stretching exercises that his body does automaticaly they are not caused by stimulation and stimulation can be avoided if you choose. The penis will stay
much smaller than normal size if these breif erections are not occurring regularilly. This lack of erections is easily overlooked and the lack is caused by many factors so a urologist consult is recomended in my opinion. If he has a normal number of erections than the problem is possibly hormonal. I sounds like the time for medical help regardless. Good luck and speedy recovery.

Hi there,
Since you son is just 13 years old please do not get all anxious because boys usually mature at a later age as compared to women.
However I need to know if your son has developed other secondary sexual characteristics like pubic hair, hair in the armpits, chest, and face, and cracking of his voice. These all are harbingers of the onset of puberty and with it the sexual organs also start development. If you are still worried please see your family physician in this regard in order to check for other rare causes of delayed sexual maturation.
If you have any further queries do get in touch with me.
Regards,
Dr Sylvester, MD
