Lump under the skin

Hi, I am a 22 year old male. Two days ago I notice sharp pain at the end of my penis shaft above the right testicles. So I examined it and noticed a marble size lump under the skin. If i was to grab on to it I can feel the shape and is very pain ful. My family doctor is away from couple of days so I am very scared. Can some body tell me what may have caused this.

Thanks

Hello,
From the symptoms it sounds like an infected hair follicle or sebaceous cyst. Apply warm compresses on the lump and keep the area clean. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care & please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts.

Hello, Thanks for you reply. I went to a walk in clinic the other day and the Doctor examined the lump and said it was superfical and like you said it was some kind of cyst. The doctor asked me to apply a warm towel on the spot 2-3 times a day and it should go away.
I have been doing as the doctor said but, the lump which at the moment was only under the skin, is now visible above the skin as well. It has a pimple like head but a bit bigger and it showing above the skin as well as being under the skin. Is there anything I can do in this situation, the pain is sometimes unbearble due to its location.

Should I get it checked by another doctor? The doctor also said something at the begining it might seem as one thing then turn into another, thats why I am a little worried.

Please don`t worry yourself to much yet. This lump could easily just be a small abcess such as a supdermal cyst (pimpel). Still, you need to have it checked out by your physician when he gets back. Good luck to you.
