Male Sexual Dysfunction

I'm 66 and recently had a TURP for an enlarged prostate.  The TURP did its job, but now I have NO sexual feelings or erections of any kind in my penis. Drugs have no effect toward erections. Any suggestions I can give my urologist?

PS My urologist has offered me a penis implant.  Any thoughts or advice regarding penis implants? Personally I'm afraid that I might be going from the pan into the fire!

Respectfully, Rob168

Hi and thanks. I have tried the pump and ring procedure. Unfortunately the shape of my penis is not compatible with rings. When I use tighter rings, I experience extreme pain.

A penile prosthesis will restore function, if you define function as having an erection stiff enough for intercourse.   But I do not believe this means that  your desire or feelings or ejaculation are restored.  So you will go through this big surgical procedure and be able to have sex, but will you want to?  Will it please you?   Bring satisfaction?

I think you should make sure you understand what the surgery will and will not do because it is a big, expensive surgery with an uncomfortable recovery period.  A less invasive thing to try might be a penile vacuum erection device.  A ring holds blood in the penis and keeps it erect that way.  It can cause the veins to stay large, I believe, so there could be changes that may not be pleasing - I'm not sure.  And the erection stops where the ring is - no deeper in the body, so it isn't stiff as deep as a normal erection.  But you might want to try it by borrowing a device.  The urologist I worked for lent them out.  They could be sterilized like medical equipment between uses.
